new best yesterday
I've helped with over 3 clutch installs for this reason, 2 Spec 3's and 1 Spec 3+, one of the drivers is now trying out a Ram and we will see.
I personally run a 38k stock z06 clutch, I have had about 20 passes this year and I have been practicing with all the techniques, slipping it created the most heat and lead to some blown runs. I do not have the will to powershift the tranny and I really dont have the $$$ laying around for a rebuild.
The kid has a real rear end in the car, use it. If he did a lil suspension work, kept the tires, and left off the limiter he would put a real time up, and I am willing to bet he can get 1.6 out of the car but again, its his money and his car.
Say what you will about driving, thats a given, you need practice. But having a lil help with some suspension will allow the car to be more consistant then not having it at all.
Edit: To reclarify, I 100% agree with learing how to drive is very important, I treat it like a "given". With out practice the car will never live up to its potential given the parts.
At the same time people gotta draw a line between what they want and what they can afford and fragging equipment is not cheap and when I met Blazin and GMAN we had a pretty long converation about that; when he launched a valve into a piston and it looked like a UFO at Roswell. That you can practice and keep that clutch living along time to come and at the same time run a great ET.

You can race a long time on a stock clutch. With my stock firehawk I made atleast 60 passes with the stock clutch and hammering the shifter.Just in driving I went from 13.8's to 12.8's with the same combo and probly 40-50 passes with around 10-18 passes a day. This car weighed 3750lbs.
When I got more serious with a H/C,12 bolt and small ET street's I ran a Mcleod clutch and put another 80 passes or so on it with numerous wheels up launches.
It's all in how you control the slip, too much will kill the clutch.Too little and the tires spin. It's practise.Go to the track alot.
Of course you could just go Auto and get the driving/launch down in 3-4 passes but I think M6's are just fun since there is so many variables.

we have had guys locally running 100% stock suspension (like OE from the factory) go 1.49 60' at full weight.
