Good, then I can explain to you exactly why the header fittings eject themselves off, and you can change the manufacturing process to that noone will ever have this problem again. Your product will become a much better and sound piece of hardware with a simple tooling change.

NOpe, actually that has absolutely nothing to do with it. THe reason, is because the fitting pipe is cut strait, inserted inside the header and then welded on. Then, the fitting is then ground from the inside so it will not protrude down into the primary so it does not cause a restirction. This grinding process, is the problem. The metal that was surrounding the weld that broke on both my headers was paper thin, there was way too much material removed on teh inside of the primary.
What you need to do, is jig notch that piece of pipe that forms the fitting, and then put it in a jig so that it is not protruding into the primary, and weld. Eliminate the grinding process and then you will not have a thin spot.
I work in a metrolgy lab, and I can tell you that the metal being that thin and the properties of 304 stainless, and seeing the heat that headers do, it amazes me that you don't have a massive failure rate of those fittings.
The fittings can be put on, but not in the fashion that they are done. It is of no fault of anyone that caps those fittings off, the fluid dynamics of the exhaust exiting the pipe will not cause this to happen, it is caused by the material being ground too thin. I measured the metal around the fitting, it was in spots as thin as .018, most of it was under .030.
This is why it gives way, because so much of the primary header pipe is removed, the expansion and contraction of the metal alone will crack that.
Like I said before I'm over it, I just went with a set of headers that didn't have the fittings on them, and went bigger while I was at it.
I would love to see all header companies change the way they attach those fittings to the headers to be honest, but the time and additional jig would not be cheap, and then you'd get stuck raising the prices or eat that out of the profit range.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^Although very informative, definately something that could be discussed elsewhere. This is for EFI race discussion and sh*t talkin'.
I don't need a physics lesson today.

Just want to add that I've had QTP long tubes and Y pipe on my daily driven/sometimes raced Z28 for over 3 1/2 years now and they have performed flawlessly, awesome quality.
Of course they don't have the EGR or AIR fittings on them but either way they are an excellent and very reliable product.

Forgot that was u I guess ?
So here is what happend , I made it to the final 3 cars left Raceway park combined the new gen gto bracket with the efi bracket slick tire and radials from both events into 1 clump ,there were around 25-35 cars (Didnt count)
I did make it all the way to the semi finals to have Mike Beck take the win with my -0.03 red light It rained 2 minutes after the final round....

I bet they pushed things through quickly huh?
At least they got the final round done.
Were there more cars for the EFI shootout or the New Gen GTO?
(just wondering, I didn't think many would show because of the weather)
Did you get your car on the trailer before the rain started?
