Default Shops in MD

Hey guys I live in MD near Baltimore and I need to get a hold of a good place to have a block bored out. Any help would be great thanks.

you looking for an ls1 block? and are you looking to just have it bored out or have a motor built?

No I have a LQ4 block out of a truck and what to get it bored to build a 408 I have someone to put the motor together for me. Just need a good place to have the block bored out for the 408.

Had bad experiences with just about all the local machine shops around here. Id have to check, but I do think one or two actually have a torque plate for the LSx stuff.

What about the rest of the machine work to get it together right?

Actully "bub" at burtonsville speed is okay. Ive also had a motor built by Charlies Machine Shop Before right near grannysshifting. they dont really "Specialize" in those type of motors..

I’ve had a ton of stuff done at Charlie’s with good results, but none of it was LSX.

Yeah Walt at Charlies does (or did) a lot of our misc machinework, but they are no longer there. Nor is the body shop, or the repair shop two doors the other way or half the people in our complex anymore.

surprisingly, a small block ford head plate will bolt right up to the LS1 motor to bore it

Hey granny lol i was just there not to long ago.. are you sure walt is not there anymore... I know he was getting his house shop together to do all the work out of there but i believe hes still there..
