Retarded laws...
Back on topic I feel your pain main. kansas doesnt have front plates and it does crowd up the front end of the vehicle, but if the law is on the books it should be heeded to. FWIW i dont give speeding tickets till 11 over the posted speed limit. It gives the benefit of the doubt to the driver. We also do not have the mysterious ticket quota, I cant speak for all departments country wide, all I can tell ya is what NHTSA reports.
Then when you stop it drops back down

It was my understanding that the license plate provides the best reflecting surface to get an accurate reading. As for radar detectors, I was wondering how useful they could really be, since as I understand it the radar is not on continuously but rather just turned on once the car is in the crosshairs, so that by the time the radar detector goes off your speed has already been recorded. Is that pretty much right?

Okay texas does require a plate but I never put one on. Forgot about that

So after the countless times I've been pulled over for retarded stuff in VA I decided for my daily driver to get this plate last summer

No offense to Steve in Philly
Oh and being from PA.....they dont have property tax on cars like the communist va state. But we did pay school tax on the house, township tax and the inspections were $70 when I left in 2001. I only got pulled over once all the years I drove up there. I come down here and was pulled over shortly after I got the TA...never pulled over in the BRIGHT RED firebird with FLAMES that I drove for most of the year.
Now people tell me its the flames that gets me pulled over now

As for why some police officers write tickets for little things, I really cant tell ya.

I can't wait to see when one them pulls you over and nails you for every infraction they can, tows your car, and then you come on here and bitch about how much of a dick the officer was to you when "You were polite and gave them no reason to be a jerk".
And by the way, "retarded stuff" or not, it is still the law and is most likely there for a reason. And if you don't think the reason is legit, rather than bitching about it, why not get a ton of people who feel the same, write to someone important, and try to make something happen. Getting a plate like that is retarded. What, do you think it's going to hurt their feelings or something? No, it's just going to make them smile when they see it because now they won't feel bad about giving you a ticket for "retarded stuff".
