Default Quick question about weather and Headers

What are you guys running? Coated or stainless steel headers? I'm looking to get Hooker headers and I can get the stainless steel version for like $130 more than the ceramic coating, is it worth it? I live in South Jersey and the car is DD so it will see rain, but we don't get a lot of snow around here, so should I just go with the coated ones?

I live in MA, I don't drive in the Winter. I have Jethot headers, basically hooker w/ the coating. They have been on the car just over 5 yrs and they are not holding up as well as I would have hoped for. The Y-Pipe especially is really flaking apart. The collectors are showing their age pretty bad but I figure they got a couple more years in em'.

For only $130.00 more, I would go with the stainless (they ARE 304 stainless, right?).

Stainless headers will still discolor/'blue'/etc. but they will NEVER corrode/rust through like painted/coated ones can (NOT saying ALL painted/coated ones do or will, just that they can in certain conditions).

If I had to do it again, I would go stainless. I have pacesetter LTs with their coating, but its rusting a little just on the bottom.

Here's the header's I'm looking to get: http://www.speedtweekerz.com/index.p...mart&Itemid=26
Under the description it says:
Industry’s best welds for appearance and long life Offered in high temp black, metallic ceramic coated or 304 stainless steel
. Those are the stainless ones so I would assume they are 304.

Speedtweeker's is a sponsor and I can get them for $500 shipped. I did a little research and they are part number 2468-2HKR. I found them on Jegs, and they say they are 409 stainless. I'm not sure what to think now. They are the cheapest stainless headers so I'm guessing their gonna be the 409 . If they are 409 stainless and not 304, I'm not going to get them, I'll just go with the coated ones then. Anyone have theses stainless headers?

Those ebay headers are LPP and they still aren't going to be out for a while. The guy keeps getting delayed and I'm tired of waiting. HIs headers use 321 stainless which is better than 304, but if I can get the hooker's for cheaper(the hookers include the O2 extensions and hardware, the LPP's include just the header), I'm gonna go with the hookers.

Had my stainless QTP's on my car for about a yr now still look brand new. Glad I waited and saved the little extra for the stainless.

In fact, I believe the next material grade up from that is Inconel, which is Formula One header/aerospace type stuff and would probably cost more than your ride is worth for a set of headers!!

Well I found out that the hookers are 304 so that's what I'm gonna order. I got tired of waiting around for the LPP stuff and that's still at least another two months away, by that time, summer will be over. 321 is better, by I'd rather my headers now than wait.

If you want, I can just sell you a pair of mint Kooks headers (stainless) that wont rust for 650.00 and you can save yourself the time of shopping around.

I'm interested to hear how you like the Hooker SS LTs... I was considering them as well, but I might just wait for the LPP 321 SS ones....

I have been throwing around Kooks and ARH's but they are so $$$$... Not that their build quality isn't awesome, but they're expensive...
