which would make more power im debating between doing long tubes into a y pipe and center exit dual exhats or long tubes into a true dual with flowmasters and turndowns. what do you guys think would look and perform and sound better. oppinions welcome
Longtubes into a proper y pipe with a minimum of 3.5" y merge and a free flowing catback or cutout will have better scavenging (therefore better powerband) than a set of true duals with a horrible x-pipe (i.e. gasses running into each other at a 45 degree angle). True duals will probably "sound" better, depending on you definition. And, from personal experience, the true duals dumped will get old REAL quick.
My friend, username 'Nomadnate' has true duals dumped before the axle. He's had it for probably close to a year and is sort of tired of it. Long tubes and y pipe would be the better choice i think. If you still want to be loud you can always get an electric cutout

a buddy of mine has a a y pipe with a duel 3in to one 4in flow master merge an eletric cut out and 3 in over the axle into a magna flow and center mount exhaust. sounds amazing open cut out or though the muffler. makes good power too, cam and bolt ons makes 425 and 392 to the tire with cam and bolt on`s

My old Z28 had true duals dumped at the axle. The sound was awesome, I could live with the drone, but what I never thought about and grew to hate was if I parked or drove over any amount of dirt the exhaust blew it all over the place making it damn near impossible to keep my black car spotless.
That alone was enough reason that I ran my new one's exhaust out the back.

see im not trying to go for ungodly loud i want loud but not blow peoples ear drums out.
ive heared true duals flow better therefore making more power im just doin reserch right now
