Did anyone else hear that yesterday (Saturday) around 3:30pm?

I was making lunch and all of a sudden I hear, "BOOM BOOM"! I thought a f'ing tree fell on my house. All of my neighbors went outside to see if something exploded - but we couldn't find anything.

Bay News 9 had a Breaking News interuption reporting of a sonic boom, but they never followed-up on it, and only mentioned it once.

Damn space shuttles.....lol

back when i was living in chicago, a day or two after 9/11 i was out side and heard a sonic boom and i emediatly turned to the city skyline thinking a plane crached in to the sears tower

turned out it was a f-14, 15, or 16 escorting a plane down due to some crazy passenger

it freaked me the hell out thinking we were getting attaced again

You know the airshow is this weekend also in Tampa right? I have no idea if they do stuff like that at airshows though.

yeah they really cant get away with breaking the sound barriers at airshows, they fly far to close to the ground for that

it was most likely an F-16, F-14's are like my avatar, twin engine with wings that will sweep back for high speed flight and are Navy jets, F-15's look the same except the wings are fixed & F-16's are single engine, both of those are Air Force, a lot of "escort duty" will fall to the Air Force

Damn F-16's are annoying sounding. They screech and yet AF will walk around a flight line with no hearing protection. They must already be deaf.

I was taking a **** when the sonic booms came. Then I had 3 stupid dogs trying to blast through my bathroom door because they were scared... and my girlfriend who is from Chicago and hasnt ever heard a sonic boom before thought somebody was trying to break into the house. Dammit, I love that girl. hahaha

^Do your dogs freak out during thunderstorms also? One of my dogs feels the need to hide in a closet if its thundering.

bobodog I worked on f-18s for three years, sound way better than the 16, I just couldn't understand watching the AF guys work, no cranial, eye or ear protection. I'd be diving the ducts to check for foreign objects and they would fire a 16 off across the line, I'd get my *** out of that intake ASAP to get something over my ears. F-16s sound worse than a Prowler.
