Q: Anyone ever come across a 98 or newer FBODY in junkyards?!
To this day I have never come across a 98 or newer FBODY in any of the several junkyards I frequent. What is the deal with this?!? Has anyone else seen them? if so, WHERE???? I'm in the NEFL Jacksonville area. WTF? They are over 10 years old now! I understand if the V8 cars are hoarded and what not but, SURELY there's gotta be a **** ton of people that have wrecked some V6's out there. You can find plenty of LT1 and V6 cars from 93-97 years. I've also come across plenty of 3rd gen scrap heaps... Even have seen a few 2nd gens here and there... What is the deal with 98 or newer?!?!

I never saw a single 98-02 f-body in the yards when I lived in MI either. (there are alot of junkyards in MI!) I must have seen hundreds of 93-97's but nothing newer. Not sure why.

I have seen maybe 30 lol...but i was also going every weekend there for a few.
LoudZ71 fella...you came to the right place. The LKQ (You pull it) on ISB heading towards Deland (away from the beach). I am yet to see a V8 car..but have seen a bunch of V6 cars. Always good for body panels, interior, etc.

I've seen quite a few LS1 cars in various yards. The engines, transmissions and wiring harnesses are always gone before they got there or sold soon after they got there.
My local yard has had at least 10 go through in the past year, most V6 cars. In '08 there were 5 LS1 f bodies there for a few months.
The problem is people know what the engines are worth and sell the car in a classified somewhere and don't call a junkyard. And I know a few people who buy them right from the auction.
The LS1 in my Z28 came out of a yard in Carthage, Texas. The car was long gone.

Okay, so I mostly have been to these yards a many times each... mostly I goto the one in Jax but have been to all of them at least twice in the last 7-8 months.
- Jax-U-Pull-It, on Normandy Blvd. Jacksonville
- Clunkers (formerly Leth Auto salvage), on Holmes Blvd Saint Augustine
- U-Pull-It,on International Speedway Blvd Daytona close to I95
-Robinsons, on SR 207 in Hastings
Never have I seen a 98 or newer fbody (not even the left over scraps of one) at these places to rumage through. So, you guys and gals that are seeing them, tell me the names and locations so I can plan a road trip! Haha...

I've seen a fair number of them but anything worth taking
has already been picked, other than glass and body panels.
I go to Cocoa Auto Salvage off Industrial, forget the side-
street but you can find them I'm sure.
They seem to pull the powertrains out of anything good
and rack them, then leave them with the interiors open
to the weather so everything inside gets trashed, that
wasn't already.

Cocoa, eh? I may take a little drive and have a look for fun. Its just more of a wacky thing that I havent come across one I guess. I do need some Of the foglights off a newer camaro but I'm always keeping eyes open for stuff.

I was at Cocoa AS this past week getting parts for my beater truck and saw three F bodies there but they appeared to be 93-97 models and were picked pretty clean. I'd look on EBay or on the classifieds here for "parts cars" for whatever used parts you might need, you're likely to find just about everything there.

and im sure yuo do this but always check the 5-10 surrounding cars. People will always hide stuff (or throw stuff in other cars while taking stuff apart) in them from other cars hoping to come back and get them in later days. Ive walked up on a ton of fbodys stripped...only to look in the cars aroudn them and find good stuff.

That place is expensive as well. Go to pick and pull near airport in Orlando. Cheap and at least 3 98 and up Camaros and 4 older 4th gens as well.
