Default Florida emissions.

Can anyone tell me what are the emission laws in Florida. I was looking online and came up with different answers. Some people were saying that different counties have different laws. If that is the case can anyone tell me what it is in Brevard County?

A couple of the metros used to have "enhanced" rules but in
Brevard there's never been nuthin'. I think even the metros
don't mess with you now. Hell, they don't even inspect for
safety, let alone aroma. And it's great.

Correct. There are no emmision laws for Florida meaning they dont stick a sniffer up the tail pipe.

However there is still a law that states you cannot modify the factory exhuast, ie remove cats.

The cops always pick on the Import for "modified exhaust", but I dont think Ive ever heard of them giving tickets to us domestics. When I used to have my true duals (god I miss that setup), it had one chambers and a X pipe and I never caught any flack. I used to have cops pull up beside me and ask me to rev it so they could hear it (did I mention I miss that setup?). The actual law does state that you can not deviate from stock though.

If you get caught without cats, its a $450 ticket.
They can also give you a ticket for any other emissions components that are not there if they look.
Emission equip. is illegal to remove in any state if you drive your car on public roads/highways, its a federal law.

i have never heard of that... it makes a lot of sense that it is a federal law, but nobody in florida really gives a ****. i have NEVER heard of someone getting pulled over n florida and the cop asking to pop the hood or look under the car.

a cop in illinois told me im lucky he didn't give me a ticket for loud exhaust. I told him I had papers saying everything was 50 state legal and he left me alone ( better than telling him to **** off)
i've never heard of people getting pulled over for emissions unless theres some black some coming out of a vato ride. you can even get away with not having cats if you have a 96 and above car and 02 sims: they just plug it in during emissions and unless they have mirrors on the floor you're fine

Never been bothered about exhaust, even at local spots when I was dumped and loud, but I've seen some imports get hassled.
