Thats a pretty general statement, if we dont vote then we have given all of our power away to those same liars who are only in it for themselves.

This may sound bad to anyone set on buying the 2009 Camaro or Corvette, but does anyone think that has stopped us power hungry folk before? The aftermarket rules baby, and I don't know about you guys, but I intend on modding my rides 'till I'm bolted into a casket. We emission tested cars and sold certified kits before, we'll just keep doing the same thing after '09. a 20 dollar bill to the hand of a inspector will fix your need for cats and meeting emissions standards.

Cool

Read the article guys and you will see that it says this is for 09 and newer cars. The cars that exist before 09 will not have to follow these same emission codes. Stop worrying and keep modding these beasts. We have quite a bit of competition out there to compete with and destroy.

Yes, it says he will sign in a bill enacting Cali emissions for 09 and newer. BUT if they start inspecting cars, they will all have to meet what they were meant to from the factory. Our cars are illegal, but they just do not inspect. If they begin inspecting 09 and newer and you think they wont inspect older ones you are sadly mistaken.

Mr Crist is pandering to the tree huggers. Cant dig for oil in the Gulf to help us become energy independant, but every other country is digging there and then selling us our own oil. And now this????

It wont matter soon because we wont be able to afford gas if somebody doesnt start letting us dig our own oil and tell the rest of the world's oil mongers to get pack sand.

I didn't see anything that said they are going to start emission testing cars, just that the new cars have to have the same standards as the california cars. Am I wrong here? If they don't start doing inspections/testing we will be fine.

If they implement the standards, I would think they will start testing too. But when Florida tried that back 15 years or so ago it was a huge flop in the counties that did it. And they threatened testing in this area for about 10 years in a row, saying "next January" and it never happened.

I think the only way it will happen is if the US government mandates it. And that has been discussed recently too.

Without inspections, this all just doesn't make any sense and seems pointless. Think about it, every new car meets 50 state emissions to begin with....so what are we really enforcing here??

It will suck, but it wouldn't surprise me if they start inspecting all cars, otherwise that whole law is pointless since that's what is already being done right now, isn't it? Or do manufacturers build a special California emissions car?

And....not to be labeled a tree hugger...this whole global warming thing is not a conspiracy as far as I am concerned, the changes are pretty obvious.

+1. I do understand that "An Inconvenient Truth" was a huge move for Al Gore to make as far as his political career, but the facts are staring us in the face. Over the past 10 years, we have seen more and more violent hurricanes that have threatened and destroyed the U.S., as well as other countries. Especially for those living in South Florida, you have ALL seen the lakes and different bodies of water almost turn into sand traps. This is very real, and very serious.

I do support Charlie Crist in this decision, but **** HIM as far as raising tuition. Now I can't even afford Ramen noodles

Um we are coming out of an ice age, the earth is warming up. I guess we should all say global warming started happening 10,000 years ago when all the glaciers melted It must be caused by us since we were using fossil fuels back then. And the earth goes through heating and cooling trends thats nothing new either.
