How f#cked am I?!?
I was just driving home tonite in the TA and I hit a big nasty puddle on atlantic blvd and my car started shaking bad, the lights dimmed and faded in and out and then my car just died. I am glad I had a buddy there to give me a tow home, but god damn. Anybody have any experiences with state farm and locking up their ****?!? I am so ******* upset right now.... I just got the car about a month and a half ago, and I just ordered headers for her the other day. Anyone please feel free to try and help me out in any way please.

First off to be on the safe side I would take all the spark plugs out and turn the engine by hand and watch for any water to come out of the cyclinders.
If everything is feels smooth then check the intake for water collecting inside and make sure that the MAF is not contaminated with water or dirt/debris. Also check the oil for any contamination.
If everything seems ok the with the plugs still out turn the motor over with the starter and listen for anything abnormal.
If you still don't find anything from there I would put the plugs back in and attempt to fire her up hoping that there is no bent rod or any other damage.

My car died one day and I was freaking out. Seems I managed to shake over half my spark plugs loose. I never thought about checking that, after I couldn't figure out what was wrong, and the shop said I just had loose plugs, well I felt kinda stupid. But hey maybe a easy fix.

I went through an insane storm on atlantic blvd. and rock island about a year ago. Went through a puddle that was much deeper than I thought. It sucks cause I also had the cold air induction on the bottom of the engine. Thank god for insurance cause it put a whole the size of a softball in the side of the block. That was a sad two months.

After I got the car home I messed around with it a little bit, cranked her up and instantly loud knocking noise and then nothing. Car would turn over but wouldnt fire.
Well after looking at things this morning, I got under the car and low and behold, a huge *** whole in the side of the drivers side block. So then I see oil dripping from the otherside and I look and there is a smaller whole in that side of the block as well. There was so much metal under the car it was insane. But I just hope insurance doesnt try and screw me over.

Well I have been looking over things, and I just called my agent and he said that they will take care of me. It is state farm and they seem to be pretty good with atleast me lol. So I just hope...

I wouldnt mess with it anymore, let State Farm assess it from here. If you start messing with it, the evidence may dry up(the water that caused the issue). Then they may think you are trying to scam an engine out of them.
Good luck

SF took care of me pretty well when my '91 got totalled. They gave me $4k for it, which I was very happy with (I had paid $5k for it 3 years prior). They also give me the best rate.
Good luck with the repair.

Once everything is a proved it should not take long. I did an engine swap in 13 hours, that included assembling the short block. Let me know if I can help, our shop deals with insurance companies (state farm is one of them).

You shouldn't have tried to start it. You should have pulled the plugs and turned it over by hand to see if any water cam out. Then leave them out for a while and check the intake, maf, and bellows for water. If it didn't make the hellacious noise when you were driving then it blew when you went to start it. Mine just did the same thing. Except it hadn't been started / moved in 5 days. Went to start it and clank, clank, boom! Just follow the never replace, always upgrade methology. It sucks major *** I know, but hopefully you can get it panned out and this isn't your only source of transportation. I got lucky there as I still have (kind of ******* George Moore Chevrolet ) my camaro.

Sorry to hear about your motor, though.
