That's funny as **** ... lol!!!

Gonna' try to make it to the track this week and start testing with the K&N out of the car, since my SLP 85mm MAF is screened, I'm not worried about sucking **** up into the intake.

I ran it without the filter (minus the new ductwork) and made an 11.89 pass with a shitty 60' ... launched at 2000 rpm ... the Nitto's just spin above that.

Can't wait to get the MT DR's back on the car ... should be cutting 1.6x's all day long ... maybe a few 1.5x's ... should put me mid-11's. As the car gets faster MPH, the ram air charge should be more effective ... especially with the JAAM plate and the FTP 85mm lid I just bought.

If you want to get this to work you are gonna have to make an airtight seal. Right now the engine is using what it needs and the rest is being diverted out the gap.

The airbox is sealed perfectly, so, no air leakage. The air charge is going nowehere but into the intake and the very smallest opening is the 85mm SLP MAF and the 85mm Fast Toys Performance Lid into a Holley 90mm TB, into the FAST 90mm intake.

Do you have any MAF readings to see what the increased air flow is?

Also, don't you have a much higher chance of rain getting in it now?

No electronics here ... just real world back-to-back testing at the track and the resulting timeslips. It rained the other day and the filter was dry as a bone ... whereas, when I had the FTRA on it a couple years ago, there always was a slight bit of mositure on the outer side of the filter. I only live 2 miles from work and carry a roll of red duct tape in the car in case I go on longer drives ... just to be safe.

Well, with a tight seal and no gap between the hood and the airbox, here a few pics with the hood closed, as requested. Straight airflow directly into the bottom of the airbox from the bottom snorkles. The air filter will be out for the track runs/testing. It's definitely an interesting project, to say the least. Yeah, I'd say this ****** CAN breathe !!!! Let me know what you think.

so if you had to cut tose holes to get the bottom vents to flow then how does the jam air plate get its airflow

Hey John,

JAAM plate didn't look like it would do much good once I installed it on the car, however, it does enclose the bottom of the air space. That's one of the things that got me cutting on the hood. The hood nearly rested right on top of the JAAM plate. So, to take advantage of the plate, I cut the openings in the nose of the hood. NOW the JAAM plate will be much more effective and will keep air from blow straight up from under the hood. The way it is now, the air charge, as the picture shows, goes directly into the WS6 airbox opening and straight into the bottom of the intake. I'll be running it without the K&N for back-to-back runs to see what the gain actually is in different weather/temp ranges.

Looks Good! A friend of mine did that to his some time back. He also
cut some holes in the rear of the hood. He said that it worked good
for letting the heat out when he was racing.

Thats true I remember back when Suncoast first started selling their LS1 Ram Air hoods(8-9 years ago) and a few guys blew motors due to rain soaked intakes.
