My shutters take about 5 minutes to close up, so I can wait to the last minute on that one. I am sure the insurance companies are already in the capital asking for rate increases.....

Wherever it does land, I hope everyone rides it out ok.

I think I'm gonna put up my shutters this afternoon. I'm not terribly worried about it, but if it busted my windows because I was too lazy to shutter them I would kick my ***.

My wife was laughing at me that I don't care as much about the windows as I do the garage door. I told her, "The windows protect you, the garage door protects the camaro." I may have to sleep in the camaro now.

Charlie wasn't supposed to be a big deal either and wasn't supposed to hit where it did. Better safe than sorry when you own your home and have a family.

Great, it looks like it's getting a bit worse for Dade County.

My shutters are rusted hand shredders...

PLUS, I have a two story town house, need to get on a tall ******* ladder, and it does NOT STOP POURING since last night to give me a ******* chance! I guess I'm going to have to do it in the freaking rain.

Its the tornados that spin off this type of weather that damages. I'm not turning my back. either way its job security for me when power goes out. Charley in '04 was on the weaker side when it hit but grew stronger as it passed through initially...

this may sound sick and twisted but a friend and i were talking about this earlier today.....When they announce that like three people died during the tropical storm I want to know what they were doing and how they died. Was Cletus fishing during the storm, trying to aim his satellite back into position, ect?

I'm just curious, I've been outside, partying, drinking, ect during these storms and unless they get nailed by flying debris or a collapsing house I just don't see how most of these people lose their lives?

Probably from trying to drive, I mean how many people do you see in a regular rain that can't drive to save their life? Same unskilled dipshits are probably too dumb and are still out and about during the storm.

I don't shutter unless it is a Cat 2. Got a Miami-Dade coded house built 5 years ago and it can take a Cat 3 with no problem a Cat 5 might be interesting. The main problem is the rising water and I got a creek (crick? ) in front of the house that goes out to Tampa Bay two blocks away and we are in a B evac zone. I've never had to use the wind load post yet but I'm ready. All depends on the tides and what side of the storm you're on! Friggin State Farm!! Told as long as we have auto insurance they would'nt cancel us! Ain't that special and they want to raise their rates as high as 97% in some areas of this county!
