I would be very surprised if they do cover it under warranty with that twin turbo setup on there. Maybe the tech would let it slide, but I highly doubt his supervisor/manager would as well. Where is that smoke coming from, by the driver side header and valve cover?

nah the smoke was from me handling the headers earlier, just buring off the oils from my hands. It stops soon after

I'll bet it is a cracked ring or broken ringland. These motors are notorious for blowing #7 and #5 stock piston land rings

I drove home when mine grenaded and had a big *** crack in the #2 sleeve, no water, fortunately, but drove 15 miles after the top of the piston blew off and smashed the electrode of the spark plug. If it hadn't have done that, that sob would've ran fine.

over the internet.

120 is low, I would still do a leak down test. A leak down test will tell you more than a compression test.

While your compression may be even across the cylinders, that doesn't mean that you did not break a ringland or crack a ring.

The noise you you're hearing could be a broken chip banging off of the cylinder head or a broken ring that is rattling.

Hopefully that tells you something, without having to pull out the whole motor to pull the pan to get to the rod bolts.

It always sucks when this happens, but fix it right and you won't have to re-visited this again.

FAIL FAIL FAIL.......#7 is done for. A piece the size of a potatoe chip is missing from the face of the piston. I cant believe i was still getting good compression. THe walls dont seem to be messed up....... so if i dont have to bore to clean them up and theres no other damage then im gonna lower my compression with 317 heads and put stock pistons back in for now....damn i didnt wanna do this now.. But right now im just glad the block and heads seem to be fine....THAnk GOD

Common problem for turbo motors. The stock ring gap sometimes is not enough and teh heat builds up and snaps off the ringland (top of the piston).

The correct fix is to use forged pistons that are gapped correctly for use with turbos. Time to forged the lower end or you'll be back here again.

There was a couple of WTS Pistons on here or CF for some 3.905 pistons a couple of weeks back I think.

Spend a couple of bucks and get some rods too, then you'll be set.

im just looking to b realiable at about 600whp....untill i can buy a iron block....so if the rods are ok id prefer to leave them be if i can. I dont track the car at all just spirited highway sprints, and sum roll racing from time to time.

Limit of stock internals is around 550 RWHP, exceed that and who knows what will blow.

Some guys get lucky and others not so lucky. If you're willing to live with less boost for awhile then go stock.
