Great news, glad it wasn't worse and more $$$, like a ruined block and crank.

the bad part right now is by the time i do it "right" and get pistons, rings, rods, bearings, gaskets, bolts etc .. have it all balanced with the stock crank, bored, honed and installed and dropped back in the car.. new clutch and retune... i could afford to just buy a 370 iron block like i really wanna do anyway....

well my motor is now out and i am sad. i didnt remember to loosen the crank pulley bolt before disconnecting the car. so i was able to get the block bare except for the pulley and front seal, and internals. So i dropped it off to the machinist as is. Now i must wait.

Still did good for my first V8 motor pull virtually by myself (minus lots of verbal advice/and loner tools) in 8hrs. I was very pleased.

( I did end up stripping one of the rocker arm bolt heads. How hard is it to get a new one?) I think my clutch looks pretty good too, considering it was struggling to hold the power!!! lol lol

It also dosent appear that the cylinder walls were damaged at all (amazing considering the large chunk of my piston missing) Still gonna wait to get a mic check on them before i order pistons etc...

I'm amazed the head is not damaged ? Most of the time, when the ringland breaks it ends up banging off the top of the pistion and cylinder head until it blown out the exhaust.

This typically puts all kind of dings on the cylinder head.

i have turned every piston down as low as it goes in the cylinder and the walls look perfect. U can still see most of the factory x-hatching.

Man that is great news about the block! You'll still need to hone the block if you run a set of forged pistons for clearancing, which is no big deal and doesn't take much time. Get to a machine shop with a deck plate when they do it, I did an LS1 once without one and that sucker wasn't true for crap. I'm really surprised the top of the piston didn't beat the head senseless, man, when mine went, it beat the living hell out of mine, fortunately they were stock #853's and weren't worth hardly anything anyway, think I got $50 for them on ebay! lol Keep us posted man, and good luck on the rebuild!

dimond -13.7 forged pistons
Eagle rods
ARP head and main studs & rod bolts
cometic gaskets .40
klevite bearings
steel top rings
double row timingchain
etc.. im probably leaving out sumthing..
all for about 2k ... ppl said it couldnt be done for less that 4k (clowns)

and im having my heads shaved .14 which should bring my compression to about 9.8/1

As far as the dealership trying to help out. FAIL .. they tried to rob me after telling what i already knew and not fixing anything. Dealerships=FAIL

Im on my way now, found a awesome machinist and hope to be puting the break-in miles @ the beginning of the year!
