Studs provide a significantly greater amount of clamping force than studs, and don't pull on the threads during the torquing process like bolts do. Think about what happens when you install a bolt and tighten it, there is massive resistance against the threads as you tighten to clamp, a stud is installed, tightened by itself, then the washer and nut go on and evenly clamp the head to the block.

Pick up a spec 3+, you won't go wrong. Still excellent drivability, but it holds over 800lbs of torque, just make sure you break it in right. You'll be fine on a stock crank @ 14psi, and that setup will SCREAM dude. You'll be VERY happy. What injectors and fuel system are you running?

That's awesome dude if you can pick up that 383 kit, never heard of the rods, and not real thrilled about the rings TBH, I've run speed pro rings before, they work okay, but I'd rather run the je-style rings that usually come with the pistons, otherwise, run it! =)

found a great deal through scoogin dickey. But its with -2cc flat top Manley Pistons. Because this assembly would be utilizing the stock crank i was told that the minimum valve relief would be sufficiant. And my compression wound be about 10.4:1. .. thoughts !?
I really want this to be the solution cause he put together such a great deal.
