Default Reliable intake setup for boost

Have a D1 waiting to go on. I have the stock 75mm LS6 intake and want to upgrade since I need to get new fule rails and install my 60lb injectors anyway

I know the new fast setup is nice for N/A but not sure about for boost.

What 90/92mm intake combination should I be looking for?

you dont need a fast 90 for boost ya they look good in all,but you can take that ls6 intake pretty high in horsepower and torque, id put that 1300 bucks towards something else rear-end,tranny,fuel. but if you are a baller then get the 90 setup but get the burst panels on it

Fast intakes are fine at least to 20psi or so. Many many boosted cars are running them. On afr website they have links to two 1000 hp turbo builds and both were running fast intakes.
I had my fast before my turbo build and see zero reason to get rid of it. I won't be going past 20psi and maybe not even past 15psi. I will be putting direct port on my car for small shots and also for car show and intimidation appeal.

I was thinking of upgrading to the 92/92 combo but now not sure sure its worth my effort. I am not sure how much my 90/90 gave me off an ls1 or ls6 would have to dyno. There were a lot of dynos in this ls1 dyno book and many many builds in there ran the fast intakes.

I know of a C5 Vette that is running 9.3s with a Z06 intake and Z06 exhaust manifolds.It would be the last thing I would buy after I had everything else.No need just because you are changing injecters and fuel rails.On a NA car I would say go for it.

Keep that ls6 manifold and spend that money elsewhere.

No need to run out and spend $1,500+ on a fast on a FI build.
A N/A build would be another story as the potential gains would be worth it.
There are many big HP builds out there with a stock LS6 manifold, so I would just use what you already have.
I would have run a stock L76 intake, but I am going for the old school look of a carb style manifold in my 79 second gen Camaro.

Well why run anything but stock heads or stock cam or anything else but stock engine with maybe forged pistons and rods and let the FI do all the work?

Reason is this. The more hp the base engine puts out the more the FI can put out potentially or with less boost needed.Its great if you can put out the same power at 15 as at 20psi or more. Too high boost starts taking out head gaskets and causing problems.

Also more powerful engine is more powerful off boost as well. Most full out FI builds have aftermarket cams, good aftermarket heads and many many run the fast over the ls6 intake. Will the ls6 work..sure will stock cam and stock heads work with FI yes. Is the stock stuff optimal no. But guess could agree to do heads, cam first on fi ,well after the forged up engine parts. But would still think a fast is worthwhile especially a ported one even if found one used. For the new prices of them..well..they are pretty pricey no argument there.

If you really want to do something you could do a 90mm TB and that new street warrior manifold.Its a one piece strong design..

Well you could be making maybe 1150 with a ported 92/92 combo on there!

Are you also running a 346 still?
Did you upgrade your heads or cam from stock?

nah ill turn up the boost for free and save the 900

no i have 364ci and all pro heads.. stock heads and smaller cubes would make it easier on the ls6 intake.

i must admit im not a fan of the FAST manifold ( unless u wanting direct port NOS ) the more i read over all ls1 forums, the more u find they just for " bling " appeal, spend 1500k on 20 or so hp? stuff that...mabye if your starting with 200hp and want some more, but at 700 + who cares?

20 hp maybe on an NA build and think seen higher if they are ported on a big NA build. But how much more on a FI build. But there are other reasons to run them. Direct port is one of the them and the ls6 don't take big throttle bodies.Some guys do like the sheet metal intakes and thats fine although there have been dynos that show the fast was better down lower in the street power ranges. The sheet metal are maybe better for racing or some guys might not need more down low.

I had mine and like the direct port option. Nitrous works fine with power adders especially small shots. Fast is set up for direct port..Just drill and tap..easy as pie.

No it doesn't. More power causes pushing water and head gasket problems. It's cylinder pressure, not boost pressure that blows head gaskets and all of the other issues that come with high hp builds.

Bout 450 with the rails. I think I got about 800 in my intake setup. I had to trim the hood alittle without the solid motormounts. But with the solid motormounts I had to hack the **** out of it. I have the intakeelbows.com elbow. 90mm

On FI setups, no need to not use a LS6 or LS2 intake. Both work well for FI applications and do not cost an arm and leg.

Was trying a while back to find an LS2 so I can at least get a 90mm on it but could'nt find one

on FI will the LS2 intake work better than a LS6?
i was told a LS6 still flows better even with a small TB.
any truth behind this?
if there is i might just use one.
