Default What kind of gains should I expect?

I am currently running a 67mm turbo on my 02 WS6. Not exactly sure on power numbers since the TH400 went in but it was 507rwhp 573rwtq thru a 6 speed on 7 psi. My best track time so far is 10.89 @ 122 with a 1.52 60' on 8psi. Stock ls1 with an aftermarket cam.

Any Idea on what kind of increase in hp or drop in 1/4 mile time I would see if I switched to a tc78? Also will a tc78 fit on a PTK(PTS) street kit since it is the same size physically as a 76mm turbo?

Thanks in advance.

I have it on 8.5-9 psi now. I just have to pull so much timing that I'm not sure it's making the car any faster. From 7 psi in hot weather to 8 psi in cool weather I lost 2mph in the 1/4, trapped 124 in mid summer at 7psi and 122 this fall on 8psi. Running 14 degrees of timing above 4k and still getting 1 degree of knock retard.

I would work on the tune and turn up the boost with the 67, you should be able to make much more power then you currently are.

^ agree 100%. try going sd tune and meth for the track.
my build is a copycat ls2 m6 gto build my shop did. the gto had
all forged goodies, and with sd and meth made 570+ rwhp
and over 650rwtq. at 12psi. i have his gt67...he stepped
it up to a t76.

I forgot to mention I do have a progressive methanol injection kit. I just get the feeling that my engine is being choked off at higher RPMs. My 10.89 passes were shifting at about 5300 rpms because the car seems slower at higher RPMs, and I don't want to blow it up yet...lol.

What does the dyno graph look like on the big end? Does it fall on its face up there?

The dyno graph falls off after 5k. The only valvetrain mods are comp 918 springs and hardened pushrods that went in with the cam. I have been shifting at just over 5k on my track passes because the car runs slower if I try to spin it higher.

Yes the TC78 will fit right in on that kit. Also you'll see a big gain in power once you start to lean a little on the turbo. The TC will easily make another 150-200hp more.

The tune I was running at the track the other day went to 11.2 up top, most of the time I drive around on a safer tune that goes 10.5-10.8 up top. The fuel system has been upgraded already (fuel pump, etc.) and I'm using 60' injectors.

What 67 does the car have on it and whats the exhaust a/r? If all that stuff is right you may need a better spring with boost and 918's.

What kind of cam are you running? On a side note are your running at the rock or down at fayetteville?

The 67mm is the one that comes with the PTk (PTS) street kit. Not exactly sure on the brand/specs, I was still new to turbo stuff back then. We did have to send it back once because the a/r was too small and it wouldn't make power at higher rpms.

The cam is a 228/228 584/584 112. I put it in the car when I was N/A and just haven't changed it yet. I would like to get a custom turbo cam when I do heads or when I rebuild the bottom end, whichever happens first.

All runs have been in fayetteville, never ran the car at the Rock because I dont think the car will pass tech and I don't have a fire suit or helmet.

I had that same kit and the same 67 MM turbo. while it felt great driving around, it never made any real good power numbers or track passes. I would try the TC78 if I was you.

when I turned the boost up, I would have a increase in RWTQ but not in HP

Sounds like your dealing with the same issue i am dealing with now. It has been a long struggle just to move over the 500 wheel mark.

Engine went on the dyno tuning for the TC78 so I will post up when it's going again. Won't be a fair comparison tho as I will be going with an Iron block 370 now.
