Default Ditching the MAF

I plan on running an SD tune and figure I will ditch the MAF altogether to make room for a pipe that I can mount two meth nozzles and the IAT sensor behind them. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to use?

Thanks!

I am pretty sure you can just get an abs pipe in the right size..3.5 inch .I picked one up but got 3 inch by mistake so have to take it back.I would get a metal tube though if you are going to install nozzles. I just got the plastic one for a temp measure.I am also going to be putting nozzles in the tube and metal should be best for that.

Any ideas on what kind of local store would carry that in metal?

3.5" on the outside diameter sounds about right.

3.5" steel pipe will work fine and you can weld bungs onto it for the nozzles.

Keith Romberg... How s that Vette I sold ya?? Looks like it's fast just standing still..

Dan, You can goto an exhaust shop and have them sell you a 3.5" pipe. HAve it painted or powercoated to your color and have them weld a bead on the ends to the piping wont come off...

I can't remember how the IAT sensor mounts into the intake plenum? Does it screw it? If so.. any idea what the bung size is? I'd love to have the exhaust shop weld one in for me while I am there.

I wonder how well it'd work to have them weld in bungs for the meth nozzles too. Probably not necessary.... hmm.

The threaded GM IAT sensor uses 3/8" NPT threads. All of the methanol kit nozzles I know of use 1/8" NPT threads. I would go a head and have the 1/8" bungs welded in as you can always use a 1/8" NPT plug to close them up.

Thanks for the help.. ended up with this:

Not the greatest looking but it will get the job done for now. I need to tap the holes for the meth nozzles tomorrow since I plan on getting the kit hooked up on Sunday.

If you want it to look pretty, paint the pipe with ceramic engine enamel. I painted my MAF replacement pipe red and then placed a comp cams decal over it. Looks like an aftermarket kit pipe

I figure I will paint it once I get everything set up but it is low of the priority list right now. Sunday I plan on installing my meth kit, wideband and replacing the D1SC with a F1A. Should be a busy day.
