I ran a set of MT ET streets this year and hated them, they were 315/30/18. I love the look but theres no sidewall to help give me a little extra bite. at 80 mph if I smash the throttle im blowing the tires off the car by the time I hit 10psi. is anyone running a full slick on the street? if so how are they? any other tire suggestions would be appreciated for this FI guy who wants to hook a little better on the street.

 

maybe u should be with a smaller diameter wheel , then better choices for tires with more sidewall.I run m/t drag radials 275/40/17 and from about 80 if i mash it , it will spin tires for a half second then hook. i say go with a 15x10 wheel with a drag radial with more sidewall and u should be good to go

 

A smaller wheel with a larger sidewall tire will help. All bets are off when you have that kind of power on the street though. A little bit of anything on the road can have you doing a very high speed and dangerous smoke show. I have run slicks on the street before and its not all that bad unless it rains on you.

 

I run 325 50 15 MT DR's. Its all in how you set up your suspension IMO.

 

Im surprised you have that much of a problem with 315 et streets, maybe that low sidewall hurts that much.

Dadkins on here has that gto that puts 825 to the tires and he has 275/40-17 ET streets and his isnt too bad once your in 2nd or third gear.

the tires on the back of my car are only diffrent by those tires by 15mm on the sidewal. not that big of deal and certainly not from a roll

 

How long do MT ET streets last? My nittos last about a summer before I need to replace them. I actually drove on wet roads and snow this weekend and was amazed how well they worked.

 

That does seem a little fast to be able to spin them on the mash of the throttle... unless the roads are pretty cold.

Try a pair of these Hoosier R6 (road race DOT) in 315/30/18:



If you get them heat cycled you might get 2500-4000 miles out of them.

If you don't care about handling, the guys above have the right idea of going to a 17" or even 16 or 15.

Id say the et street radials would last a 1/4 of what the nitto's last. They are not even comparable. The et street radial has a sidewall, and feels much better at higher speeds. My car isn't make 800 hp, but the 275/40/17's dead hook launching off the 2 step with 5 psi @ 4300 rpm. They also dead hooked 5,000 rpm. Im making 500ish hp.

I dont really think there is a better option for a street tire, then the et street radial.

There is no way to really hook 800 whp without buying a tire like this. The rubber is way softer, and makes all the differance in the world in traction, but the tires where quickly.

I run 295 bf goodwrench g force sports on 18/9.5 tire they are a soft tire really shitty when cold and ok in the rain. They are ok when the got heat in them. My advice is keep the burn out on these short they go quick.

 

I absolutely LOVED my MT Et street radials, they were I think 255's on a 17, stock size, and they really hooked. Ran 28psi in them at the track and cut 1.70 60' times consistently with a 6 speed in the TA.

 

Can someone explain to me how everyone talks about blowing tires off and spinning tires until like 100mph?Granted i dont make 800rwhp, but i can deadhook a 2nd gear roll on 265/40/18 M/T's in my 6 speed car.Sometimes 1st gear hooks too.

 

I had nitto's on my old setup while making 920rwhp and they would very well ,even from a 40 roll and my 6 speed!

 

I could spin the tires up to 80-90mph if i floor it but i am running crappy azenies with my vette.


On other news...anyone try the nitto NT-01's? I have them up front and they seem to be lasting but i dont drive the vette often.

 

oh on street tires all bets are off....im talking about a drag radial.I assume its because most either dont have suspension or its not setup?

 

just a ton of power...800+ is a TON of power. Even if you have a fairly setup suspension on the street you can still spin some DR's. I dont know about at 100mph but who knows. On the street you never know how much traction your gonna get.
