Default isnt making more than 6 psi

hey i just had my truck tuned two days ago in speed density @ 9psi. im running a 7 lb spring in the wastegate and an e boost 2 the e boost is set at 25 (duty cycle or whatever) and it was making the 9 psi. well at the end of the tuning i had a pipe that kept blowing off so when i was driving home i never got into boost so it wouldn't blow off....

all i did was fix the pipe and add a ground to the motor (that i saw i forgot to hook up) and when i went to take it out i got a max of 6psi... like the e boost isn't doing anything.

i checked all the vac lines and saw one was barly kinked, so i re routed a new line, same results... all the others look good w/ solid connections.

any clue whats up?

When you fixed the ground, did you disconnect the battery and perhaps loose your settings on the boost controller?

Sounds like you have a boost leak somewhere else.

is there a way to test the solenoid? i have gone over every line more times than i can count and its making boost as if there was no controller hooked up. no hoses are cracked, split or blown as well.

What is your SP set at? You may have to crank it up there fairly high to see a change. If you remove the solenoid, you should be able to bench test it. Blow through the source port, and feed 12v to 1 wire and ground to the other, it should open one of the ports, reverse the wires and it should open the other. I would first keep the OB set at 10.5, and crank up the SP. How do you have the wastgate hooked up?

Also, some of the MAC solenoids have a test button on them, look at the solenoid to see if yours has that.

its at 25.. the same it was set on the dyno. the gate is hooked up like so...

port one off solenoid goes to a tee, off tee goes to bottom port and manifold
port 2 is top port on gate
port 3 is a vented tube.
this is as per the instructions for the 1st way for a single external wastegate.

It may be loading differently on the street then on the dyno. Just a thought.

You could try moving the source to a boost only port, before the throttle body to see what it does. I know it was building 9 psi on the dyno, so I still lean at a leak somewhere. BOV poping off, or leaking at the flange? All piping, is there an Intercooler?

I've heard of it loading different on the dyno but always the other way around.(less on dyno than street)

no test button on the solenoid

yea theres an intercooler (ebay)

i think i might have found a place where it could have been leaking under boost but not obvious just looking at it.

i took it off and welded a nice bead around the pipe(i don't have a bead roller) and got it on nice and tight.

were leaving to g ma's house for Christmas now so ill have to find out if that was the prob when we get back tom.

thanks again for the help

Block off the turbo inlet and pressure test the system. One time I had a eboost solenoid failure and it would get hot with the eboost 2 powered up.

that was definitely where it was leaking... got it fixed, took it out and saw a peak of 9.4lbs.

what a huge difference, now i am in need of some tires or ill just have to turn down the controller, it blows the tires off in 4th like its nothing. i didnt hit 5th but im willing to bet it would struggle for traction there too

try it once without the muffler... it could be backpressure, a guy on lateral-g.net had twins on an ls and dual 3 inch exhaust and couldnt make over 9 pounds of boost, it turned out the guy fabbing the exhaust had installed turbo mufflers and not straight thrus by mistake ... swappung them out freed 10 additional pounds of boost...

out the coupler straight off the turbo on the intake/ charge pipe side, just looking at it it didn't look like it would have leaked but i guess it was under boost.

the exhaust is just about 2-3 feet of 3" pipe, no mufflers
that guy must have had some crazy high back pressure

its a rear mount setup so its not that loud
