I can't believe that no one mentioned this, but it's kind of insane to go grab a file off of HPT's repository and use it as you tune; ESPECIALLY with a turbo setup.

Just watch your wideband.

I had a problem with oil leaking from the turbo, I went with the mocal pump, restrictor and plumbed return into the pan.

I had a problem with the signal wire to the oil pump relay, it wouldn't always trip the relay to run the pump. I ran the wire into the fuse box if you do that research to make sure you use the right terminals. My pump runs anytime the key is turned and shuts off when you turn the key off. Some supply power until the door is opened or on a timer.

These aren't off my car, they are from a write up Schantin did for installing a Mocal pump in place of the STS pump.

Not the best pics but its the cylindrical thing with hex ends

I took another look at the car today. I turned the car on and checked the oil cap on the valve cover and the oil seemed to spit out more so than come out in a continuous flow. I took the turbo off and inspected it. here are some shots.

The oil leaked in to the exhaust and intake housing.

here is a shot of the restrictor

Do you guys think the culprit is most likely to be the stock STS oil pump?

Another thing you can try Is let the car run for a second until oil comes out of the feedline and shut It off. Then let the feedline sit In a clean bucket or bottle and see If oil drains out of It overnight.

hey could you explain to me how the oil leaks into the exhaust and intake? i know if the rate of oil going into the turbo is greater then what the pump can pull out it will cause the oil to fill the housing. I'm not sure how the internals of a turbo work thats why im asking. Is there a seal on the shaft?

Its not really a seal from my understanding Its basically like a piston ring. When It fills up so high It just bleeds over Into your turbo. If Im wrong someone will correct me.

Pretty much yeh.

You should get a bucket and put the oil line into and start the car briefly and shut it off. After its off you should get 0 leakage from the check. If it leaks, replace it. If it doesn't its probably the turbo. Just don't want to spend all kinds of $ on a new turbo or getting that one rebuilt if you don't have to.

its the 1 way check valve... i bet if you replace it you wont have any more problems. The oil probably pools up when you park it and then when you drive it, the excess shoots out everywhere. I had the same thing happen to me and was going crazy trying to figure it out and it ended up being the damn check valve.

You guys are awsome!!! i took a look at the check valve and noticed that it was stying open so i cleaned the check valve and made sure that it only flows in one direction. I bolted the check valve back up, turned on the car and let it idle for a few minutes. I didnt have a leak so i decided to take the car around the block, parked it and let the engine idle for another 5 minutes. My leak is completely gone now. Do you guys think i should invest on a mocal pump or just run the STS pump since im no longer having any oil issues? Once again thanks you guys so much and i really appreciate the feedback.

Thanks,
Mike
