Default injector size vs tunning

im close to finishing my twin turbo lq4 thirdgen and i have a question.

im looking for injectors and i wanna know what your opinion might be on brand and lb/hour vs ease of tunning.

i am aiming for 10 lbs of boost and around 600 rwhp,
however next summer if all goes well i plan to rebuild the motor for 15- 20 lbs of boost.

im have built my exhaust system to handle up to 1000
rwhp and i want to do the same with the fuel system.

so my question is for 600hp i need 72lb/hr inj, for 800-900hp i need 96lb/hr.

id like to get the bigger injectors now.. if i do will it make tunning the car for 10lbs of boost harder?

For your 10 psi 600 hp goal, 60's would be easy to tune and easy to set up.

For more you could get 79's, or wait till the end of the month and get the new 83's and still run the stock pcm with no impedence box convertor. Once you go to 96's you ll need a convertor box to drive the low imped injectors, or a stand alone pcm like a megasquirt, bs3, etc....

Id put 60's in, and wait till they run out. For more then the 60's youll need two pumps also......and then there is always e85......

Let me start off by saying I am no expert but how did you get your injector sizes for you HP requirements. I come up with 62lb for 600 rwhp FI and 92lb for 900 rwhp FI. That is on the safe side with and them running at 80% duty cycle.

i initially was looking for 60's but then after using an injector calculator, 600 rwhp (approx 690 fwhp)

72 are what it suggested at 80% efficiency.

i used this calculator

How far off is 60's for 600 compared to your 80% for 62's for 600?

First, 60's have had several ratings......60's 65's....but they are mototrons and commonly referred to as 60's. Ive run them over 100% dc......with base fp in the low 70's.

I was just saying your options, you cant just put in 96's.....as easy as 60's. Youll need another pump, some hardware, and a driver box. So youll be spending atleast twice as much as just putting 60's in.

im doing either a sumped a1000 system with all the filters and and so on from aeromotive or the twin intank racetronic pumps.

fuel to the injectors is not an issue.

ok my question is now.....

lets assume that i wait and get the new 83's.

this would give me plenty of room for improvement but would i have trouble tunning these at a lower duty cycle since im only planning on running 10 lbs of boost now.

Personally I would do it once and do it right, driver box and 96 lb injectors. With a good tuner they should be able to get the car to idle and drive good. It may not get as good gas mileage, but it is capable of driving nicely.
