Default Steam vent hook up options

I searched and found that you can:

-Weld a bung to the radiator: I can't weld
-Drill and tap the flat spot on the radiator: I'd like to see some pictures
-Add a metal section to the heater hose: Rather not do that
-Drill and tap the thermostat housing: I'd also like to see some pictures of this
-Add a section to the upper radiator hose: Can't do that, have the metal flex

It's coming down to the very little things now before startup. Actually, I'm just waiting on my rims/tires to arrive. I'd rather not start the bitch on jackstands.

if thier is a shop by u that welds I would have a bung welded on cost you maybe 10 or 20 dollars I wouldn't recommend taping the rad it is pretty thin and if something hits the barb fitting or tug on the hose to get it off it will not seal

I dont want to weld a bung to the radiator. There isn't anyone around that I would trust to do that. I just want to see some pictures of the drilled and tapped water pump and thermostat housing.

you can also tap the top of the water pump, did that a on few conversions. I works fine. On my car i tapped the alum radiator right below the filler neck, that worked good to.

P.S. If you want pics of this stuff go search in the conversion/hybrid section. They have whole threads of this problem

Steam vents should be drilled into the highest point were trapped air could accumulate.

ie the existing ports on the head.

these should then be routed to the highest part in the cooling system. ie, the airspace in the header tank.
If its routed anywhere else...that air/steam could simply get trapped elsewhere, almost defeating the purpose of having them.

I would never route them into the radiator, unless the radiator has an overflow/expansion return to the header tank, which will allow any air/steam to escape back to the highest point.

Then there must be a return to the header tank also...

I'm in the dark. Why do you need steam vents and waht for? This is the first i've heard of this.

To my understanding the steam vents are to help with detonation. I think #7 that everyone has trouble with really benifits from it.

Given the temperature coolant runs at, it is very possible for the water to boil, despite being under pressure.
If this happens, air pockets will appear at the highest point, perhaps preventing proper circulation, and also air doesnt conduct heat away from the engine internals very well.

So the steam vents are there to catch any air formed, and route it to the highest point in the system, usually the header tank, so that there is always water in contact with the internal passages, for optimal cooling.
Obviously during normal operation, small amounts of coolant are also circulated through these pasages
