This is good stuff, step back and take a note. Dont bash, and you just might learn something.
more details on what you are using those Tial housing'ed GT35rs on please!

as the A/R changes the wall thickness gets reduced, so the lower the A/R number the thicker the wall.

the .90 and the 1.00 A/R garrett housing can be machined and ~20lbs taken off and still have a wall thickness greater than the 1.40 A/R which Garrett blast tests to make sure containment is achieved. so you end up with a light housing that still has a wall thickness that is able to blast contain.
That is strange because I remember lifting some of the GT55 housings and the weight seemed to increase with larger A/R ratios. Also, why would Garrett go through the trouble of having multiple housing castings made and then not reduce the price of the raw material by controlling the wall thickness on the smaller housings???

On another note, Garrett does test their housings for containment up to 110% rated speed (If I remember correctly), and is really cool to watch

as you lifted more, your arms got more tired, thus feeling heavier

Here's a pic to give you guys an idea of the difference in wall thickness across different A/R ratio's in the same family of turbine housings.

The one on the right seems to be a 1.01x. What is the one on the left? When I have the money I'm planning on shipping mine off to you. I'm really weight conscious and I love this idea.

I got a T6 frame GT42 here with a .86 housing! If the above is true for my turbo, I must be able to get a frickin TON shaved off that thing!

Im shaving the turbine now as im struggling to fit it in the desired position without making it smaller, does anyone know the minimum thickness I can go to?

EDIT- If it helps, I just measured the wall, we talking 17-19mm wall thickness all round at the moment.
