Bigbos, We used a ati balancer with the three 3/8 bolts holding on a 7.750 aluminum pulley. The blower pulley was a ati 4.25 8 rib. The idler pulley is a aluminum 6 rib ati that we modify to use a 8 rib belt. I could take pictures of pulley set up, but i don't know how to put them up here.

Kurt - Send the pics to xlr8nss@bellatlantic.net I'll throw them up for ya.

The ATI is great at the boost levels they test for. We have exceeded the envelope at boost levels in the teens and big cube motors or engines already at a high-horsepower level for the P-1SC and D-1SC with stock mounting setup, IMO.

PSJ, maybe these pics will help answer your question:

Bracket:

Belt Routing:

Well im having only positive things to say about ATI. As you can see with sign. But at only 4 psi I no were close to were Bigbos is with the boost range. I will be soon going to a 348ci so I can run a crap load of boost. Well with this post its starting to scare me little. Im
going to want around 12 to 10 psi of boost. So whats the deal of going with a cog setup? Why havent you done this yet? Also Bigbos how much boost are u at now?

I just talked to a guy today who is running a D1Sc on his Z06 vette. he said he having belt problems, but not anymore. Turns out his pulley on the blower was misaligned to the rest of the train by 0.062"! That's about 1.5 mm for you metric guys. He brought it to a shop that checked it with some kind of micormoeter setup, then machined one piece, and custom made another to get it aligned. I think the place he took it to was Dynotech in Indiana.

So it might look lined up, but even a little bit (.062) can cause you to start throwing belts.

Lingen all I can say is good luck, your not going to be a happy man when you get to where I am, right now I'm trying to get around 12psi, the most I've seen so far is about 11...8 ribs can be put through a lot if they are setup correctly, I don't see a need to go to cogs, I drive my car almost everyday, well I did before all of this came up....

I'm POSITIVE that the pulleys aren't lined up correctly, it could be off less than that degree and still be a problem, but the shop that its at really doesn't have time to look at it everyday....so far we haven't gotten one step further from where we were at day one....

did you check your balancer pulley that the ATi pulley rests in? it could be sticking out a bit or something like that.

did you get a chance to look at the tensioner pulley?

No, I will have Speed Inc. take a look at it on monday and then we can see, if we can't get it solved I'm going to take it back to chris sikora and have him spend some time with it to make it line up correctly....

The steel idler should be here early next week so we are going to try that..

Keeping my fingers crossed...

Maybe something will work for once...

not yet, their guy that they have always looking at my car is out for the week, they are pretty backed up, but once the steel idler gets here we are going to try that, and if that doesn't solve it I'm either going to sell the kit as is or take it to chris sikora again and have him spend time with the car lining things up...

I would like to have a successful procharger car, there is only a few others out there in the NATION....

i talked to a few supercharger "geeks" over here and they said you definatly have an alignment problem. the funny thing is they said thatfrom what they have seen, 75% of those problems come from the tensioner.

one of them had the aluminum tensioner wear out on one side just a bit ( kinda made the tensioner tapered) but he couldn't see it while it was on the car. it started chucking belts and he didn't know why till he took it off and found out about the worn out tensioner.

I don't, but at least you can rule something out if you upgrade it.

You'll get there Big Boss.

I think maybe you got a kit where one of the parts is just a little off, and you've been chasing this problem for a while. If that one Vette guy's setup was 1.5mm off and he had to use a micrometer that is clearly a hard thing to chase.

just out of curiousity , did your kit come with both round standoffs for different years ( the one that goes on the engine idler pulley)??

could the wrong standoff have been installed?

My kit was shipped with the wrong pulleys, but as far as I know I think the standoff's are right.....

I will have them check that out...
