Default APS 35th

Im also going to have a SD tune done here on my 02 35th APS once Spring is here and have a few dumb questions What's all this talk about cutting tabs and stuff ? I have a 02!.Can i just buy one from this 2 bar sensors & wire from the above posted site and will have to cut tabs or is it a perfect fit? Also,is the colbalt one better ? or just cheaper? or the same ? Im looking for the best sensor period !!and wire!!!Which one should i get! PS.This SD tune thing is new to me too guys ,so take it easy on me LOL.I was gonna mass air tune, but after reading on this site for awhile and hearing the pros and (no cons) LOL is what steered me towards doing the SD tune!
PS,What ive got so far out of this post is that the Colbalt 2 bar map seems to be the better choice, but i'll have to tap into wires,is this correct? or can i buy an adapter plug to work with this Colbalt map? That one guy on here said he bought 2 bum sensors before he went with thne Colbalt???? Just wondering what your thoughts were? I want the best 2 bar map sensor i can buy out there and money isnt an issue for me when it comes to something like this! I will also be running 60lb injectors with my APS setup
PS, LOL,, Also, can i install this 2 bar map sensor now and run my car on its stock tune NO BOOST to drive it to a tunner or will i have to install at the tunner's before he gets started?

Going 3 bar shortly. Got hptuners and been using it with maf. Figure switch over in a few weeks.

One thing not happy with is sounds like lose misfire detection with the speed density and thought that is pretty handy sometimes. But guess speed density is not compatible with it??

Cobalt sensor is plug and play. You dont have to cut your wiring harness for a new plug it plugs in like oem and sits in the oem spot. You take your stock sensor and make the cobalt sensor look like it. Took me 3 seconds with a pair of side cutters.

pretty sure you need to buy the HPT 2 bar OS for the 2 bar MAP pid to work correctly.

I tried to use the 2 bar map pid with mine and it doesn't seem to work correctly, i've only recently tried to log with the 2 bar map pid so I might have something wrong.

And then let your tuner load up the 2 bar OS and then tune your car for you and you'll be set.

If that is all you do, the car will not start. Atleast it didn't in my case, you have to load up the 2 bar os

i know ive maxxed out my maf, i was just curious because A) i could compare what boost the map sensor is seeing vs my boost gauge B) i might not need a boost gauge anymore lol. But oh well, was worth a shot.

Yes, the Cobalt should be plug n play. The 2 MAPs I had - not sure now what they're for - didn't change readings until you pulled 15" of vacuum. And people cut tabs off to make it fit on their intakes (I think, but mine is on a vacuum block mounted on my relocated coil packs)

So you can actually mount this anywhere wheres there manifold vac? If so,maybe ill mount mine on my custom vac manifold i made, thus making it easyer to get to (Just incase)!LOL Just wondering if they make or sell a plug for the back of the intake where this sensor goes if i do this? or just leave the stock one in there (unplugged) Right?

Plus,do they make a long enough wire extention for me to mount it on nmy drivers side custom vac manifold pictured here?

You can run it wherever you want. Plug intake. I will likely just tap my fast 90 and plug there didn't like the way the fast doesn't really hold the map down.In fact made a little bracket hold down thing to keep map tight was worried it would blow out under boost.

You can get extensions for the map.I got a shorter one since planed on leaving it near back of firewall but there is longer ones. I forget already where I got it from.

Those that switched, were you able to get the old MAP sensor out without taking the intake off? Seems like it is possible. I can actually get my skinny arm back there, just not sure if you have to pry it off, or just twist a certain way and pull it off.

Getting the old one out was easy, but I don't think putting the new one in will be as easy. I wanted to make sure there was a good seal.

So, you just pull the old one out? Was it done with the intake still on the car?
