Boosted LS2 power limits?
this one has been pretty well behaved from what I can tell
ECS has several cars at or above 700rwhp, and they know how to set them up...
ECS has several cars at or above 700rwhp, and they know how to set them up...
I mean their meth kit is $600 or something, so it's not a cheapo
I also have the ECS, D.P. modified Akly Control kit on my car... GREAT kit... I've been at 760+ for about 8 months now, and as Bret stated I "drive the **** outta the car" It was built for the Texas Mile and will be there again at the end of this month March 27th,28th,29th... When it made 761rw it still had 4.10's in it at the time, now we changed to 3.15's for the mile so it "should" make a tad more... The tune is rock solid on my car, and from what I know of ECS, I would be willing to bet the tune on the car you are looking at is spot on... The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
What would you consider good fuel? I always use Sunoco 94 octane in my cars.
Or are you suggesting I mix it with some VP Racing or something?
I can get 100 octane, but it's not as easy to find
In my opinion that's not usable power for most folks. So I'd turn it down if you don't want to use meth. Full time race gas is problematic.
I'd turn it down to 600-650rwhp for a while, and then up it later. You could always put a bigger pulley on there. If the car is near ECS, you could book an appt there to detune it. Nothing more silly than buying a powerful car that (a) you can't afford to swap the engine for if you break it and (b) has to use meth at full boost and you don't want to.
A forged bottom end might be under $4G's, save up for one.
Good luck. Conrad on here has a LS2 TT C6, he broke it at one point, maybe he'll chime in.
I just mailed in the deposit on the car at lunch time today. The car is going to ECS for a cylinder leak down just to confirm everything is okay, then i'm going to have them back it down in the 600-650whp range
Still should be a beast on the street
I'm going to try and sum up what he said, the best I can remember.
Is the car safe? - Who knows, they have a handful of LS2's north of 700 and even above 800. 3 specifically local that they are trying to break, and just haven't been able to. 5 years, 150-200 cars and not one has died yet, they don't know where the limit is with their setup. Could blow tomorrow, could be fine for a long time.
I asked him what I could tune it down to, a "safe" level - he said 650-700rwhp...(remember, this is a 730rwhp car) and do that with a different restrictor plate and quick tune....$300-400 maybe?
Then I told him, how I pretty much keep my foot out of it, other than to just light up the tires once and awhile. So I asked, what about bumping the Rev limiter down. He said that would work, it's quick and easy, he said it's probably at 6500rpm, bump it to 5800-6000rpm and I'd probably loose 2.5lbs of boost.
But he said if I'm going to do that, he recommends I just keep it under 6k, (since it's a 6 speed) and enjoy the car. Just watch the RPM's.
They are very confident in their product, which is good to hear. They have over 75 LS2's at the 700+ hp levels at least they guessed. They said probably 75% of the cars that leave the shop (stock LS2's) are 600-650+ rwhp, no problem
Sounds like I should just leave it alone and keep my foot out of it?

Congrats man, I hope you have your hands on it in a few days.
Thanks for putting up with all of my PM's!!
It'll probably be 2 weeks before i see the car. he's on vacation next week, then the following week, it will be at ECS for a compression test, then she's all mine
That's awesome man. Shoot me a pm anytime.
