You know, the Iron 427 that Schwanke Engines makes looks pretty sweet, as it's:
-a 427
-probably available in a boost option
-and priced really well

Worth asking them, anyway, what they can do. I've also heard nothing but good things about Lunati cranks if you decide to have something custom built. My uncle-in-law (if thats even real) down in brewton AL with Crenshaw motorsports has stories of guys running lunati cranks in bracket cars for more than a decade without a problem. Worth the extra cash? TSP build them with that option, FYI. Pricey though... Good luck and keep us posted!!!

sorry to hear about your block but she did pretty damn good for a stock shortblock and a 3700 race weight. Now I'll be lloking forward to some forged shortblock high boost times.

That's the video of the good pass which is the 6.32 @ 109.55 in the 1/8. Well it was good to the 1/8. Then it chunked a plug. I new it was bad but I wanted to make another pass. Switched plugs and fired it back up. No knocking so I made another pass. Then the carnage hit at about the 1100' mark but it felt a little sluggish and ran a 6.409 @ 109.09 to the 1/8. Came out the back at 10.179 @ 116.14 in a cloud of fire and smoke.
I'm pretty sure that one or more rod bolts failed. I'll know better after the autopsy results are in. Won't be for little while though.

Well just picking at causes of a plug thats been "contacted" by something else. Could've been a rod stretching too I guess since it later chunked one.
Any audible noise on the pass before she blew?

Yeah, it starts making a sound like someone is shaking a jar that is almost full of pennies really fast about 1 sec before it let go. My last motor threw a rod also and it made the same sound. I know that one was an oiling problem. I was telling a friend that I need to learn how to shut it down immediately after hearing/feeling that noise. He laughed as it's probably already wasted inside by the time you hear it.
