heads for boost

How much boost will the Patriot Heads take (ls6 stage 3). I will be rebuilding a ls1 with low compression with a 72mm turbo.

That's still based on a stock GM casting with a 1/4" deck thickness. AFR's, ETP's, Trickflow's, Darts, have thicker decks for lots of boost. 3/4" if I remember correctly. I would think 10-12 would be safe on stock heads would be ok, but after that I would get different heads. Another thing to remember is that the Darts are pretty cheap and have that thick deck. Do a little bowl work and a good valve job and you are into them less than $2g's.

kyle ran 23 or 26lbs through his patriots. I'd keep it lower though to be safe as stated above.

243's and head studs are a must with boost. I wouldn't trust them over 12-15lbs.

i would get some lq9 heads if you are working on a budget. i would stick with a head that has big combustion chamber, 72cc and up. you want a big combustion chamber because it will prevent knock better then a lower cc head on a same CR motor.
