it's exactly wat it sounds like. When something like the top mounted superchargers are working they create heat. however certain items especially metals get saturated with the heat and they start loosing power.

yea id say procharge or STS - my STS kit was a giant PITA to install b/c i was shipped a half a$$ed system that was used. if it was brand new im sure it would be a quick and easy install. good luck with whatever you pick!

Is there any type of cooling system to prevent "heat soak" from happening on top mounted superchargers?

IF I WERE YOU ID SHOP AROUND FOR SOMEONE TO BUILD YOU A CUSTOM FRONT MOUNT KIT. THAT IS IF YOUR LOOKING TO BUILD THE MOTOR LATER AND PERSUE REAL POWER. STS CARS ARE DECENT BUT FAR LESS EFFICIENT THAN A FRONT MOUNT KIT. EVEN AFTER HEAT WRAPPING THE MILES OF PIPING YOU WONT SEE FULL SPOOL TILL 4K OR SO. ITS JUST HOW VELOCITY WORKS. THE FUTHER THE TURBO IS AWAY FROM THE MOTOR THE LESS EFFECIENT IT IS. AND GOOD LUCK CHASING BOOST LEAKS THROUGH ALL THAT PIPING WHICH WILL BE REGULARLY. PLUS U WILL BE FORCED TO RELY ON PUMPS TO RETURN THE OIL TO THE PAN INSTEAD OF A GRAVITY FEED LIKE FRONT MOUNTS ABOVE THE PAN. ALL IT TAKE IS A FUSE TO BLOW AND THERE GOES UR SHORT BLOCK, AND POSSIBLY TURBO THAT’S NOW FLOODED WITH OIL, IF U DONT GET OUT OF IT FAST ENOUGH ...FOOD FOR THOUGHT AS FOR MAGGIES, FROM WHAT IVE READ THEY ARE PRETTY WEAK UP TOP TO W/O A CAM OR OTHER SUPPORTING MODS, AND A HORRIBLE HEAT SINK, THINK THAT WAS MENTIONED ALREADY -BrAvo
sorry for the caps lol...

Maggie, easier to install. You don't want to deal with oil pumps. Gravity oil systems dumdumdum.

Personally turbo is the way to go as far as forced induction goes. Unless ur looking to have ur car at the track every weekend, mini tubing, running 315's or bigger, running 1/4 mile and don’t care about getting 10-16mpg lol "EVERYWHERE" lol I’m exaggerating of course, but you get the point
With our limited tire space you really can’t utilize full boost that low in the power band w/o completely destroying ur tires and spinning every gear. And thats where a magnacharger will hit(1000rpms full power) In this situation a bit of lag is desired, in order to get up sum wheel speed before you access all of ur hp/ tq
You might enjoy a Procharger tho, worth checking them out also, they make good power, and dominate on the top end !... On my stock block I made 523/526 @ just six psi . a friend of mine with a sts setup ran 8psi with meth, and only made 511/514. Another buddy had a magnacharger that made 540 (I think) and that took a cam and like 14 psi off the same cubes. These are all good numbers, but as you can see these other setups other than twin turbo, have to work much much harder to get the same numbers. Only downside is the cost. I’m sure you know this though, you must pay to play. And taking shortcut will only result in reaccomplishment w/ a lot of wasted time and money

I said certain items *especially* not meaning all but a general assumption for the sake of keeping it simple.

My maggie is getting put in right NOW. I've built the rest of the car in preparation for it. I have a thread running on it. I will hopefully have it back Fri.

They were finishing up a maggie install on an SSR today as well. Sounded awesome!

The eaton's have heat sinks on them, but there's no way to not build heat when you're building boost.

That's one of the reasons I went with it. No reason to tap oil lines and all that other stuff.

Just bolt it on, tune it, and go.

Its such a minor complication though, when you consider the power you inherit in exchange !
