Default Magnacharger or STS?

Im planning on putting one of these two systems in my car and cant decide if between the two. I have 3:73 gears, corsa catback, and kooks headers that I havent installed yet. I just need some feedback from you people that run these systems. The STS is only 400 dollars cheaper. This is also going on a stock bottom end car with a 10 bolt and stock tranny.

The 10 bolt is going to go under the power and torque of both systems. Also if this is an A4 car the 4L60 is not going to take that kind of power for very long.

I have heard good things with the STS and headers. But both system are good the STS would probably give you more room to grow in the future if you decide to go with a built engine latter down the line.

As far as an STS guy there's always room for improvement like, wrap the exhaust, keep OE mani's, bigger injectors, fuel pump, intercooler, etc. Also on stock motor with 10 psi

I like the STS for the ease of installation for a DD and it's different. I've had my kit for about 4 going on 5 years and the only problem I've had is a connection at the oil pump came loose and oil backed up in the turbo. My fault!

I've been running a 10 bolt rebuilt(by me) with a alum. cover with main cap supports and haven't had a problem it either but I rarely hammer it from a stop. I'll ease into it then hammer it but agree with all that it WILL NOT take abuse more than that for too long! Especially with an auto.

Don't have any info or experience with magna's so ca't help ya out there.

I appreciate the replys guys. Keep them coming. The car only has 26,000 miles, so it will last a little while because I dont abuse it that much.

how big of a magna are plannin for?
I know guys that are running full exhaust ls1's with magnachargers and the run clean and smooth but the cars are not driven daily nor hard. haha best part is that seducing whine.

Either choice your gonna have to upgrade the tranny and rear end. Bigger injectors and new fuel pump will be in order along with a tune. Get a dyno tune! no order tunes or programmers...

i have had my STS kit for a little over 2 yrs now and i love it....it is by far a unique set up and ppl really love it...im running 8 PSI right now on a bone stock bottom end and so far its holding up pretty well....i had a boostcontroller on it and when i installed it i accidentally put the vacumn lines in backwards and ended up running about 15 PSI for about a week and the car loved it...the numbers in my sig were only on 7.3 psi so u can imagine wut a true 8 would do....the only issue i have with it is at times the dip stick pops out a bit due to the fact that the crank case cant really vent so it makes its own...but other than that, i love the system...great street car...

get the maggie... if you decide to go bigger later it will be much better. imo i think a sts set up is a waste of money.

Two completely different setups. One is a turbo, and the other is a roots supercharger. Go with what you want. Roots will be power at the tap of an accelerator as where the turbo will start much later in the powerband. As mentioned before wrapping exhaust helps to spool quicker on sts. The magnacharger would be a beast for a dd. Just keep the boost around 6-8 pounds if you don't want to replace engine parts.

Best advice that I can give you is to weigh the pros and cons of both kits then compare the results. Honestly, I like both kits but have to sit down, think about my realistic car goals then see which kit would suit my needs the best. If you were to ask me right now which kit I'd go with out of the two, I'd choose the Maggie due to the fact that where I drive at there are ridiculously huge speed bumps and curbs so low that I scrape my exhaust tips while the car is still at oem ride height. Also car is a daily driver and I average atleast 20k miles a year. I love the performance of the STS kit but I would be EXTREMELY pissed off if my Turbo got damaged because of something on the road.

maggies will heat soak pretty quick. the STS always will leave you room later down the road should you ever want it.

I like maggies but heat soak is killer on them. A Kb on top of a ls series would be a monster in tq and hp but on a nice warm day forget about it. I have a rearmount its started as a sts kit but Ihad to hack it to death. STS kits are not tooo bad im lowerd and I only rub my drive shaft loop. But in any case a scavenger pump set up is a pain in the ***. The thing I like the most is thefighter plane sound I have a 4.5 inch exhaust pipe and a magnaflow in the I pipe and its still loud. Ive done everthing every rearmount guy has suggested and it turnd out pretty dam good.

'heat soak' is only a problem with the intercooler it would happen with any boosting device with a small air-water intercooler..... if you are concerned, get a better intercooler setup with a larger water storage tank, better heat exhangers, etc..

Maggie. But if you want power and ease go with a D1SC procharger. StS turbos are( from what i read) problems' maggies are nice. but they dont have the power a D1sc does.
