Default Knock Sensor Time

OK, I've done a lot of searching and am still having problems confirming the part #'s I need. I have a '98 and I need new sensors. I've been told to get the 99+. Here's the #'s I have:

Sensor - 10456603
Wire - 15372170

From what I've read I'll need two sensors as well as two wires. Can anyone confirm this??

You will need a single new wire to fit the connections of the new knock sensors since they are different from your 98 sensors. I don't know part #s though, I can try and find some though.

Dug ....

How did you determine that your knock sensors are bad?

Ron, remember it set both codes ( for both sensors )? Then while tuning we deleted the codes so it wouldn't set the SES and pull the 4 degrees . . . but since then I have yet to see them register anything. I think they're very suspect, and I don't want to push the car if it appears they're not working . . . I don't know how else to tell!

I've seen bad LS1Edit programs throw the Knock Sensors out of whack for no reason. FWIW.

Mellow . . . I have heard that too . . . I suppose the only way to find out is to put the car back to stock ( except the injectors of course ) and see what it does . . . what have people done in those cases?

What kind of things did they do that threw the Knock Sensors off?
This would be very important stuff.

Black, from what I have heard it doesn't have to be anything specific. FWIW, I've had Edit programming done to my car. It had been about 2 months from the last edit to when I threw the codes. Interesting how it happened though, I was on the freeway with Tin Indian in the car, and went WOT. Both hoses that run into my Profec-B black box blew off, boost went crazy, and the car died. Coasted to a stop, turned key off, then restarted. Car seemed fine but now the codes were set, couldn't get rid of them except to delete them. But now I'm worried that deleting the codes may have incapacitated the sensors!!

I would like to know what is bad. I have seen this happen before, with nothing changed from stock except very minor things (like inj changes and PE) that have nothing to do with the knock sensor. I have seen this first hand, but have yet to figure out why LS1edit can cause this to occur.

Nic . . . do you think it would be a good test for the sensors to have the car running with Atap, and rap the valvecover a couple of times to see if anything gets recorded?? I was thinking that might work.

That is also a good test. However, we tested the wires and knock sensors back to the PCM harness and everything measured out fine according to GM spec. It would be interesting info though.

Yes, we did test them . . . but we didn't test them after we deleted the codes. This will prove whether they are disabled or not on '98s if you delete the codes.
