I know people's finger grip will be different, but I try to twist the belt with my thumb and forefinger and if it will twist greater than 90 degrees, I tighten it some more.

And I allow a couple days of driving to try to achieve optimal tightness:

- Put it on and run a few minutes. Tighten.
- Drive out and tighten when I get back to the house.

Day two:
- Drive out and tighten. Get on it. Not the expected boost level? Tighten.

Day three:
Repeat day 2.

Belt life is significantly shortened if I try to get optimal tighteness (max boost without dropoff) in one day.

A pain... but it works best for me.
I did this when i got home today after i took everything out of the car getting ready for Friday i.e. backseat, sub box, interior pieces, swaybar, and those heavy 18's.
Put the 16's on and tightened the belt and was dropping my buddy off and i layed into it. Felt so much stronger up top and i looked at my boost gauge and saw 10 psi. saw it both runs i did. Cant wait till friday at the track.... 9 inch here i come....... crossing fingers i dont break anything

We have had good luck with the Goodyear belts also.

why has nobody here tried the spring tensioner setup from SD-Concepts?

They claim they can max out a P1-SC with no slip using their setup.

Mine will be here in a few weeks and I will be able to report how well it works probably by year end. (doing my own custom setup so it will take a while)

but those of you with existing kits spending all this money on pulleys and belts and such, I would have thought it would be tried by now.

I think only Z8's and 1badls1 (427) have had direct experience running cog setups on their cars.

I hear that cog pulleys are a bit pricey maybe Z8's will drop and tell us.

i use carquest belts, i haven't had any belt brakage issues( i had a napa belt snap off 24hrs after installing it). recently i've had parts of the belt getting worn off (just like one of the pulleys was doing a burnout on a section of the belt), but i think i know what it is.

from what i've seen, the only thing keeping a cog belt from walking off are the shoulders on the tensioner pulley.

This is a little off the wall, but it might work. I dont have the resources otherwise I might try it. Use a belt drive off a late model harley or any bike like that. The pulleys could be used too. Who knows it might be work or I might be completley wrong.

I also would like to know why COGS is not widely used..??? The ONLY reason I steered away from a supercharger setup originally was because of all you guys complaining of belt slippage.. Turbo setups are having just as many problems if you try to run any kind of good boost through them.. What the hell is the answer????

I had my tensioner on my Procharger MAXED out with the 40.8" carquest belt, with the 7.85" crank pulley and 3.3" blower pulley...broke the pins in the crank pulley there was so much tension....belt still slipped..

So the next and final step to solve my problem will be to use the old Reicard pulley I was using with the teeth, and a 39" Dayco Polycog belt (8rib), this belt is an inch smaller and will be REALLY tight...hopefully this will grab...

Can't keep my 8-rib from slipping at high RPMs, no matter how tight we make it. In the process of installing cogs, today.

I have a Vortech YS-trim. You should plan to spend $600-900 for the pullies, belt and idler. I will post pics at my site when complete. Only time will tell on how long it take to work out the gremlins.

You can get the complete cog conversion kit from rpmoutlet.com for the Procharger kits. $488 and it includes the belt. I'll be ordering mine soon.

Looks like I will be ordering the cogs set up from rpm outlet too, on the dyno we only saw 13psi before it nosedived to 9psi. I emailed rpmoutlet to get the availability on these set ups, and if they are special order, I asked them how long it would take them to get them to me once the order is placed. I hope to be hearing from them soon.
Man I hate this belt slip crap.

Looks like I might go that route, but I'm tempted to sell it all if it doesn't work and go N/A w/big spray.....I could just do a head and cam swap and I'm all set...

Thanks, Kyle

I think the belts are special order as well..

I know that with my 8 rib pulleys from ASP it took me 5 weeks to get the crank and about 3 weeks everytime I needed to change a blower pulley...Reichard racing can make these pulleys next day avaible sometimes...not sure if he does COGS though...
