Bosfather, what's the plan? If the belt is just slipping you need to figure out a plan to fix it. I'd like to see you hit the track this year, I'd trailer you up to GLD if you try to go in November.

Well for now, I'm going to wait a few weeks to see how Frcefed's COG stuff works out, if all goes well, I'm going to order up some....

I think the only way to solve the slipping w/my problem is to go to COGS, I've tried EVERYTHING to make an 8 rib stick....

I'm selling my Reichard 8-rib pulley for $90. Ribbed pullies are intended to slip so as to reduce the wear on the blower and motor.

Stealth, did you order ASP COG pulleys, what size did you go with? How much boost are you shooting for?

Thanks

No, I don't believe ASP makes cogs for a Vortech. I bought pullies from Dragon Race Engineering in Broomfield, CO. I'm not sure of their source.

At sea level on the slipping 8-rib, we would make 14.5 lbs. in the manifold. So, with cogs I would expect 18-ish at the shootout next week, if I am able to make the trip.

Bos here is ASP email asp@aspracing.com
Sorry I haven't responded. Seems rpmoutlet and asp have a lack of communication between their two companies. All I know is I got a PDF of my invoice from rpmoutlet with a paid in full stamp on it and so far ASP knows nothing about my order from them. I have been emailing them both from the minute I placed the order with rpmoutlet. I hope I don't get scammed. RPM is marketing this kit for $488 and ASP is telling me it goes for $650 from them directly. ASP is asking how I ordered from the kit from rpmoutlet and I told them it is forsale on rpmoutlets website with a list of questions that need to be answered so you get the correct pulley set up.
I will post my findings when I get some more email from ASP. Like I said above I hope I don't get scammed...

That does sound a little fishy, I would deal with ASP directly, but find out why RPMoutlet is advertising that price...

BIGBOS, as an engineer, I encourage you not to "guess" on such costly matters.

O.K. Here is the latest. RPM handed my order over to ASP yesterday so that makes me feeeeeel a whole lot better about this whole deal. ASP told them that we were already in contact through email and that ASP was taking over from here. Looks like I will get the price on the set up since my card was charged at the time of purchase. So that is good. What happened is RPMoutlet had pricing for another pulley set up on their site for this cog set up. Retail from ASP is 650.00. I don't know if rpm will change the price or if they will honor the price they have/had on their site. But if I were to do this again I would be doing it directly with ASP. ASP has been fielding the technical questions not RPM so I am sure I will get what I want.

This is what ASP came up with on tooth counts for getting me 15psi:
76 t crank
33 t blower
10408m30 belt
blower speed 64208

If I hit 15psi that is great, pretty sure it will be a little more, but I will be getting max CFM that the blower puts out. I told him I didn't mind getting close to max impeller speed, max engine rpm is 7100 and shift points are set at 6800, and this is what he came up with. The guys at ASP are the pulley making pros so I am sure guessing isn't part of their process. ASP asked me all the info they felt they needed to get me 15psi up here. The only one that isn't sure is me, I don't know how all that info figures into tooth counts and psi, I work with veggies all day But if I were all of you and had questions, I would email ASP and tell them what you have and what they think is right for your set up. BTW they make the cog for ATI super Dampners too and recommends using this instead of the stock LS1 dampner because of those pins that like to shear if everything isn't bolted up tight.

Nope its the weekend, last post from me was on friday. I doubt ASP works sat/sundays. But now its hurry up and wait. I don't doubt that it will take 5-6 weeks to make these up, but they are being made. I will post pics and a write up when I get them in my hands
