I could discuss the head lifting issues in private. I just don't want to publicly finger point.

Mainly, without going into a lot of detail, Brian Tooley's heads seem to have done the trick. He o-rings them to his critical specs, along with using stock GM graphite gaskets. Prior to using TEA's heads, we were never able to get over 18lbs of boost, or over 730rwhp, without "lifting" the heads. As I've mentioned before, we have now ran as much as 26lbs of boost, and we're making over 800rwhp. Consistently.

You can quote me on this: With a worthy fuel pump and a little more boost, this car will go at least 9.40's at its' current weight.

I can't believe nobody has bought this car yet!

Rob, Ronnie's TA has a aeromotive belt driven pump. You install the pump, prime it then forget about it. I have this pump on a 2004 Monte Carlo big block twin turbo that also has been trouble free to 8.51 @ 158mph. This pump is cheaper than a electric pump also, although harder to mount. (if it was easy everybody would do it!) I will try to find you at the Thunder race, would like to check out that car. Do you sell a turbo kit for F car?

I knew that would bug you and it wouldn't be long before you knocked me back down. Like I've said, after the Southern Shootout I will be lucky to be in the top 5. But that's OK I'm still proud of my little stock short block.

Congrats and good luck at the S.S.

no offense rob....but seeing your bad luck in fuel pumps (including 2 different brands) you think it could be something other than the pump itself?

I can see the king sumo dying cuz of some weird reason being its new but the now the aeromotives?

Just trying to play devil's advocate

hell of a run btw!

Looks like we may have found the problem today. Somebody apparently put something in my gas tank at some point within the last 2-3 months. The King Sumo pump had an internal filter which I never checked (since the pump was new). After the problem I had this weekend, I checked the newly installed Aeromotive filter. It was completely covered with what looked like mud. Pulled the tank today and it was literally full of the same stuff.

Guess somebody thinks they're funny.

Hopefully it hasn't hurt the pump and I'll have it all sorted out within the next couple of days. Either way, it doesn't look like we're going to make it to the Thunder Shootout. I didn't realize until tonight that they were going to enforce the NHRA License rule (my mistake). I don't have time at this point to get my license. Which REALLY sucks since I was skipping SEMA this year to attend the race.

Oh well...Harlan would have whooped up on me anyway....

Where there is a will there is a way...dammit. Get there.
Sorry to hear some scum bags left some scum in your tank. Unbelieveable.

Rob-
I don't know if you know this guy's history, but I've met him at his old shop. This guy was hired by Chevrolet to drive Moss' toys. He has a seriously talented shoe. Consider his proposal! Call me (fer cryin out loud) and I'll give you all the dirt on him. :p >> Kurt

I also need to pick your brain on the FAST system. I'm thinkin'... and you know how dangerous that could be (no flames requested, please.)

Man...you guys are killing me! Believe me, I REALLY REALLY want to go! I'll look into possibly getting someone to certify me at Beech Bend this weekend. However, that's only if I can get the 10pt finished within the next couple of days, and the car tuned for 9's consistently. (barring any more fuel pump issues)

Kurt, thanks for the offer to drive. I would have no problem letting you do that at all if it came down to it. But right now I'm waiting on the Weldon 2025 or 2035 to show up. They were on backorder last week. In the meantime, I'm changing my feed to the Aeromotive 1101 from a #10, to a #12 and cleaning out the tank and lines. Maybe that'll fix the fueling problem.

I also need to loosen the Chance converter. It's WAY too tight right now to be able to run on a Pro Tree. Hopefully I'll just be able to shim it, and not need to order another stator.

Oh yea, and I guess I'll need another pair of slicks too. Any suggestions? I've only ever used the MT 28x10.5W's on my car. Anything else even come close to the hooking ability of those? I heard Phoenix was also a good choice but have no personal experience with them.

Thanks again!
