Why use a manifold on the right side when using a single turbo????
Does it unbalance the engine too much?
Josh S.
the 00+ manifolds dont flow too terribly bad
they hold the exhaust energy in well
they don't crack
*note* this is not common among all single turbo set-ups.. some do come with tubular-style exhaust..just not for ls1's.. not yet.
CAVEAT: I have a large displacement motor and velocity is an issue for me. On a stock displacement motor with low boost the problems with back pressure will likely be manageable.
The newer single turbo kits that I have seen all come with a full header on both sides and can support higher boost levels. My new design employs this style as well with a new and relocated cross-over running into a y-pipe into the turbo. My T74 can easilly support higher HP with lower boost and less back pressure.
BTW, if you are looking into a custom kit and want improved turbo response, make sure you look into a turbo that uses an off-center housing. These new housing's extend life and improve early response and low boost, they are also not as prone to stall.
if you do a search, somebody on this forum, or the otehr site, converted from the manifold, to a shorty mac (i think) header, and had noticable gains.

I remember following your posts when you were in the process of it, and got good results.
