Smile Upgraded to D1SC

Well the deal I had to sell my P1SC kit fell through. I guess it was a blessing cause it gave me more time to think. Instead of re-posting the kit for sale again I spent all day yesterday thinking if I really wanted to sell the kit and go with the bigger cubes or keep the kit and upgrade it. Just the stroker kit would be in the $2500 or more to gain maybe 40rwhp and 40rwtq. And since I already owned the ATI for awhile and spend the $1000 (ouch!!) for the upgrade it's money better spent. I had a great conversation with SD Concepts about spring tensioners, 6-rib and 8 rib, I'm glad in keeping it SD should become a sponsor, they have some killer upgrades for ATI kit that totally would get rid of belt slipping problems. I can't quote any prices but they are expensive at all when you compair it to all the headaches that ATI left us to solve on our own..lol. Plus the extra 150+ rwhp of belt-free-slipping is always nice. So AGAIN my plans changed :p

I dunno all about the spring tensioners with the ATI kits, I think the one supplied would give more tension..

Now if you plan on running some double digit boost #'s I would just skip right over 8 rib and go with a COG pulley setup, this is what I am going to do now after all the SH*T I've been through trying to get an 8 rib to stick with 13-14psi...

Bos, cranking down on a belt with a solid tensioner is not the same.

Give SD a call and have him explain it to you. It makes total sense. Look at the vortech. Spring tensioner, and people are having zero problems pullying those G-trim blowers for 13psi

I am only looking for 10psi and I am going the SD-Concepts route. Now if they would only send me the F'ing parts. As with most automotive shops I have dealt with their promptness to deliever parts leaves something to be desired. I just hope it's worth the wait.

Well sometimes we can't get things overnight just cause we want them. Atleast there's a company out there willing to fix the problems that ATI left us to deal with. So if it takes them alittle time to fix the screw up from ATI I'm willing to wait.

02- overnight..... hhahahaha I wish....

been over a month now. they charged my CC the day I placed my order and non of my emails or phone calls have been returned since. thats why I am getting miffed and actually made the comment. shops never learn if you just keep the customer in the loop they will be happy. if you hide from the customer they have no idea whats going on and get pissed.

if any of you guys actually get thru to them ask how long the wait is for their setup.

they were extremely helpfull when I placed my order and I was very hyped up about them but ever since they got my $$$ it's been a different story.

just a heads up for everyone.

NMRA Renegade Mustangs run solid adjustable tensioners so what SD said is strictly an opinion.

Now a renegade blower Mustang is going to be the extreme end of running a 8 rib setup... We're talking solid adjustable tensioner with NO spring, special brace going from the snout of the crank to the blower snout, so that you don't wipe out the bearings with the extreme tension they run. But this class has folks making 22 - 27 lbs of boost, non-intercooled, 8 rib, that to be competitive in you need to run 9.1's or better at 3300 raceweight.

I have a similar tensioner on my car based on that technology. I won't run the extreme tension like those guys because there is no room for that front brace.

And while the stock Vortech spring tensioner is pretty darn good, it's not necessarily the best solution for high boost cars.

You have no idea if this so-called cure is actually going to work.Until you have it on your car and make numerous track passes it is just another shot in the dark.I tried many different fixes on my old combo and none of them worked.Look at what Bigbos has done to try and get a belt to stay together. It would be great for the ATI crowd if it did work but the jury is still out.
