here are my twin 76's, no boost though... Car was not tuned. But you can still hear them pretty good.

Single T-76, 3 inch dp no mufflers, wg is NOT dumped, it's recirculated...

Sounds like this crusing:

Sounds like this fully spooled (4th gear stomp):

My tc 78 has a sweet spot at part throttle that is LOUD. People will stop & look, it sounds cool to me. But it goes away as I starting building boost or maybe the engine noise drowns it out.

Ive read this whole thread and i think people are getting confused.

It seems that people are refering the "TURBO WHISTLE" to either

A: the whistle that the turbo Compresser wheel makes under extreme rpms (boost)

or

B: the whistle of the Exhaust wheel chopping the air up as the exhaust gases exit, (mostly open down pipe)

the original poster i believe was refering to A.

depends where you stand to listern ..
if you stand , down the track at the deep end, you will here a jet like noise, not much engine noise,
sounds horny.....
the high pitched noice is the compressor wheel grabbing the air, at high speed.

stand behind the car, as it drives away....
sounds more like a muffled v8 noise, also you get a 'different' sort of whisle noise...
the 2 step car be heeard better behind the car , on the start line.

the best spot i believe , it in the deep end , @ about 1000 foot mark, with the turbo car on a solo run, so you can hear it coming, then as it goes pass @ speed you will hear the exhaust noise under FULL load...

Ya know, I find my turbo's to be weird. I really don't even notice them a whole lot when I am WOT to be honest. Currently my car is dumps so I heard mostly engine notes. II did hear some rush of air from the dual TiAL 50mm bovs. I also run two 44mm TiAL open wastegates now as well(in this video I am going to link, it has turbosmart open 38mm gates. I never noticed soo much the sound of the spool but,..heres a video of it if you wanna check it out.

Also, I noticed, sometimes, at idle, or low rpm speeds, the turbos have a whirl or a howl to them. This sound is not always there,...which is why there odd to me. Don't know if its a temp thing but,...it's either so quiet you don't know it's there,...or its loud enough to where I'll pull into spots and I hear people saying "he must still be runnning the procharger" . WHich...it's not blower whistle loud,...but similar. It sounds kinda wicked.

If you listen at the very beginning of the video...you can hear what I am talking about very well. Also on my return,...you'll hear it well too. Check it out if you got a minute

10.5 year bump....

My 7875 from VS currently on my K5 doesn't make any cool turbinski sounds while spooling. It used to have a S475 that would sound like a jet before it was making a single pound of boost. Hopefully the eBay GT45 going in my squarebody crew cab dually LS swap will make more noise.
