Default Still bleeding boost, need help.

I'm loosing boost, the car makes almost 6psi on a 7# WG spring and then starts dropping. I recently pressure tested the charge pipes by pressurizing the turbo intake and capping off the pipe just before the throttle body.

What I found amazed me, I had the BOV on backwards so it was just blowing boost away. Tried it out this morning and its still doing it I also found that the compressor housing was leaking but its not that bad, I was also told by a sponsor on another forum that that would have very little to no effect.

The only other leak that I know it had was after I installed the BOV it would leak but not nearly as bad as it was, I just assumed that because it didnt have boost pushing on the vaccum port on the top. I could put my hand plugging up the BOV exhaust and it would blow off and then seat and not leak at all for a few seconds and then start leaking mildly again. Is this normal?

Here's a copy of the log if you have HPT, look around frame 2316.

Is your PID setup right? It says that your are in boost in all of those frames and it goes over 20psi! There is also an unsupported parameter, what is that?

On a side not, I wish i had those IAT's that you have.

Thats because you arent running my .cfg I just e-mailed it to you try it. This forum doesnt support the file type to attach it or I would have.

It loaded the same cfg when I viewed the log. From my understanding, the cfg is automatically loaded with the log file. I don't really understand why it's showing me a different boost level and not you.

You want to take a screen shot of it if someone else has the same problem as me?

Here you go. I did it as a thumbnail so you can view it full size without it messing up the width of the threas. I dont know this for sure but I think it may have something to do with your main table having a 2 bar sensor PID. does it read 3 bar pressure sensor on the main table of my log on your computer?

The boost portion says Boost (afr) not like the screen shot that shows Boost (psi)

The 3 bar MAP pid shows up

Is it possible that the wastegate is sticking open? Do you have time to draw out how you have all of your vacuum lines ran?

A friend of mine suspects it could be the WG and wanted me to run it carefully wthout a boost signal to see what it would do but I didnt think it would be a safe thing to do. I also called JGS and they said that it would be more likely to overboost than under boost they reccomended running with out the boost controller hooked up. I'm not sure if I can just disconnect the top port of the WG and plug it, do you know if that can be done?

Baiscly everything is referenced from the brake booster line including the boost controller. The BOTTOM port of the WG is the only thing referenced from a different spot and it gets its signal from the charge pipe right off the compressor housing.

I wonder if I could blow pressurised air through the bottom port of the WG if there would be some way to test if its sealing off or not?

Check and see if your vacuum lines match the way turbosmart recommends them with what ever boost controller you have.

Well I just eliminated the boost controller from the equation and it still bleeds off. I'm waiting on a call from Nathan @ HP to ask him if the BOV is supposed to leak at all under a leak test (which it is).

The only other thing it could be is a sticky WG and I hope its not because I dont know how I could test that .

How are you reading fuel pressure in your scanner?

With the AutoMeter PID in the scanner. Had a dynotune guage but I couldnt log it because the output voltage was a very narrow 2 volt signal. AutoMeter is the only guage I know that you can log fuel pressure from.

Where is it leaking from? I pretty certain it shouldn't leak under a pressure test.

Its leaking past the BOV but there is no boost pressure pushing through the vaccum line on top of the BOV piston to hold it closed. I'm gonna run an vac line from my regulated air supply to the top of the BOV and see if it leaks. If it leaks then I have a bad BOV.
