Default TTI guys Upgrading 67 trim over 60

Last numbers we put down 451whp and 506 torque @ 8PSI on the TTI 60 kit. As most of you know the 60 is just too small for even a stock LS1. The car makes great power and peaks 5200 but then just flattens out all the way to 6400. I was thinking of upgrading to a good 67 to try and brake the 500 mark and improve my trap times a bit. We are running a 228/232 cam with patriot dual springs and alky control

Any body that has upgraded the 60 or is running a 67 on a 346 please drop in and let me know what you think. I would like to brake the 500 mark running the meth or at least get the most out of my set up.

Hmm are you talking about the single kit they sell? If so I know a couple that have had 76's on theres with great results so I am sure a 67 would only help the situation you are addressing which is the HP limits of your turbo. Ryan K did a great job with his so look back at some of his results etc... GL.

The T67 is a good size for making 500rwhp especially in a automatic.

Thats what i am holding my breath for . I dont plan on going way over 500 any time soon since i am still running a stock bottom. But i have been searching for that magic 500 Since i am running meth i am trying to keep the single 60 TTI kits intercooler and piping or at least for the most part. I think i can get away with it since i am using meth to help keep the IAT's down.

By going to a little bit larger turbo it will help your IAT's. I wouldn't worry about your piping or intercooler TTI sells many of these kits with the larger turbo.

60mm is limited to 63LB/Min ... at least on my STS garret journal bearing turbo from back in the day.

67mm is limited to about 75LB/Min airflow

70mm would be around 8x LB/Min airflow

I'm at the same spot with my car and my 60mm. I'm going 67mm @ 7psi and hope to break 500

How well will the stock bottom hold up to 500 boosted horses. I know a few guys have done it on the 67 and more on the 72 and larger.

Its starting to get tight up in there. The issue looks like it may be with the hot side of the turbo. What is the largest turbo that any one has been able to fit on the street kit manifolds?

you shouldn't have any problems with 500hp on a stock block...there are thousands of guys with H/C running a 150 shot on their stock bottom ends every day.

Just make sure you get it tuned by someone you trust.

Keep in mind that tuning for a turbo is a little harder then nitrous. We need a lot of fuel as we build boost. If i am not mistaken the most common failure for the LS1 is the piston lifting due to fuel burning around the rings and cracking the piston around the pins. Some one please correct me if i am wrong.

For the fitting issue its the hot side that i am worried about

I ran mine for ~2 years with a 67mm on it. I had to change turbos after about 6 months because once we replaced the clutch we found out the AR was too small. The most I can remember making was 507rwhp 573 rwtq on 7 or 8 psi before I went to an automatic. That was through a 6 speed with the stock rear.

Yeah but it was after I changed over to a 9" and a th400. It was making ~465 rwhp and ~540 rwtq through the th400. Still never really leaned on the turbo tho. The most it ever hit at the track was 8psi. It also went 10.99 @ 124 on 7 psi with a 1.58 60'

The exhaust housing shouldn't be a issue. I've used a big as a .96 with a 76 mm compressor but we install it into a 60 series cover. Last one we did did have a 67 made over 600 rw @ 15 psi.

Thats what I went with... A TC78. My car is in the shop getting the engine built right now because the 78 was a little too much for the stock bottom end...lol.

I am running a built 4L60 with a 3200 converter through a 12bolt with 3.42s. My best 60' was a 1.65 on DRs. This time around i will be running a set of prostars with slicks but my over all goal is to brake into the 10s.

I was running a th400 with an unlocked stall, a 9" (35 spline axles and a spool) and 3.50 gears. When I ran 8psi on the run in my sig I trapped lower but it was also a much hotter day (mid to high 80s IIRC).
