help me pick pistions

I am putting together a 5.3 L motor, after tearing it down and finding it needs a overbore, i am boring it out to LS1 specs. I will be replacing the piston and rods, I am going to go with SCAT H beam rods. I have the stock 5.3 heads still that have been ported. I am looking at forged pistons what are your thoughts on which one. Oh and im looking to run around 8 pis of boost

wiseco makes very good pistons. i would defiantly take them in to consideration.

Any piston manufacturer should be able to make a piston for that, stock pistons would be fine at 8 psi.

you are looking for 8.5:1 to 9.5:1.

8.5:1 is very low compression and is more for a high boost pump gas motor

you can also lower your compression with the cylinder heads. 317 will take the stock ls1 to about 9:5.1 depending on the head gasket.

If you are going to choose engine parts you might want to list your final goals. Any piston maker will be fine at 8 psi, some will reccomend a custom piston at 15 psi and some off the shelf pistons will be fine at 20 psi. Psi is not the only factor, just using it as an example. Depending on your goals a off the shelf piston may be your best bet...and those come with set spec's taking the learning experience out of it.

I was not reccomending a stock piston just saying that they will hold fine at 8 psi.

Wiesco or Diamond, I'd stay away from Mahle the alloy + thin ringland has been known to have issues.

EDIT: Just to clarify I mean dished Mahle's, I haven't heard any problems with the flat tops, but I'd assume they are the same alloy so ehh..

I have a wipple charger that is going on this motor. I was looking at a 25 CC dish pistion that woudl put me around 9.5 cr with my 5.3 heads. In the future i would like to be able to turn the boost up.
