Yep dose it leak oil when you shut it off? I would double check the check valve also you gonna need that. You cant restrict that down at all because of the nature of a rearmount.

how much boost does it make?

i had a similar problem with oil in the intake only, but it was due to my wastegate being stuck open and it wasn't making any boost

How many miles are on the turbo? Take your air filter off and see how much play is in the compressor wheel.

Default Not to hijack this thread with my own questions but...

As a guy new to turbos (my 96 LT1 has a STS kit), is any amount of oil in the cold tube considered "normal" or "acceptable"?

I thought an oil leak in any part of the turbo was bad?

Can anyone chime in on this?

If you have a mass air meter zero oil should be in the cold side. If not you may get away with a thin I mean thin film of oil. On a rearmount there are a couple of things that will cause oil in the cold side. Weak return pump, Bad check valve, Worn turbo. I know some times using the sts harness for the oil pump that relay goes in and out causing the pump to fail and the come back on My advice is to source the pump in a seprate 12 v source and run a switch with a led light and a realy in side the car.I had mine done like that for over a year now.

Where does the check valve go?
On the feed or return?
Between what two parts?
