Default when to go with an aftermarket balancer

So I just procharged my car and wanted to know when it needs an after market balancer? What are the pros and cons? Will the ati bolt up easy and work with my procharger pulley. I seen that the ati's are cheaper with the ac pulley. I plan on pulling out my ac soon. Can I still use the one without the ac pulley?

The LS1 F Body 8 rib ProCharger kits require the use of an ATI Performance Products harmonic balancer and the ATI Performance Products crank pinning kit. You can use either the one with or without the ac pulley, neither one affects the use of the outboard mounted ProCharger pulley. Bob

My question is that if I get one with out the a/c pulley wouldn't it be shorter? And if it's shorter wouldn't it cause a problem with lining up with the blower? Just trying to cover any future problems ahead of time.

Nope, same length as it has a spacer in there. Bob

Would it hurt if I got the one with the A/C pulley anyway cause it's cheaper and then never hooked the a/c up?

Couple more questions... If I get an underdrive pulley that doesn't slow downt the blower at all right? Just the water pump and alternator and does it need to be SFI approved and what does SFI stand for?

No it doesn't, as the blower pulley bolts to the outside of the balancer.
SFI Link. http://www.sfifoundation.com/ Bob

So are their any others worth trying or is ATI the only way to go with a procharger. I seen a couple others with better prices that were SFI approved. Powerbond makes one with 10% underdrive for 188.95 and a 25% for 209.95.

I wouldn't want to trust the harmonics of your engine to any off shore brands. When it comes to a balancer, you get what you pay for. Bob
