I am doing a 346 with Wiseco flat tops and eagle rods, ARP pro series rod bolts. Running a P1SC with a bigger cam and hope to see 600+.

Well I'm not even exactly sure what a 317 head comes off of...

Is it a stock GM casting?

yes its a stock casting on the 6.0l engines like the lq4. they will lower your compression thus making your motor a little more boost friendly in simplest terms.

Oh okay so its a "budget build" decent head then...

Well I am Really trying to squeeze some power out of mine.. I'm not saying Money is no object too me or anything but I really think the car will be totally different with a set of 225cc 72cc chamber AFR's

I was in your same shoes awhile back, wanted to get out of the nitrous world and go to FI. Debated on a stock crank 355 and D1SC or go all out. I choose the latter.

383, Dragonslayer crank, Lunati Pro Mod rods, TFS heads, single plane, elbow, and a F1 with hopefully around 18-20psi. I'm looking for 700+ at the wheels.

All through a Dana 60 and a 6 speed. Should be a fun car!

The 408 is the best/most expensive way to go. However since it's a street car, and you are budget minded, I'd reuse the stock crank, use a good forged rod/piston, decent heads, and let it rip. You will make more than enough power to keep you happy on the street. The D1SC head unit is capable of producing 925HP...Max of 32 psi....If the cubes aint enough change pullies!

I think I have decided on rebuilding the 346 maing it a 347 with:

EPP's Blower Cam
225cc AFR's with 72cc chambers
Diamond pistons

And the rest of the good stuff

I voted for the 408 just because you will need all the help you can get to make power with a procharger LOL
