Default Lower compression for Vortech superchager

Hey I have a question I have a 2002 Ls1 Z28 and I wanted to install a Vortech superchager. I heard the car is running a 10.1 compression. I was wondering if I should drop the compression .. What would a good compression be 8.1? By changing the compression I would beable to run Higher boost like 13-14 instead of 8 pounds right? Does anyone no of any heads that are good like the people at Patriot/ thanks

The 9# kit can be installed on a stock motor with no other mods required and you can run more than 10# of boost by lowing the compression. I've heard good things about the Patriot heads, we may be picking that line up shortly. We've also had good results from the ARE heads.

The Vortech V9 G-trim kit is designed for the stock LS1 motor. Lower compression is not needed. If you plan on running more boost than what the kit provides (i.e. swapping pullies), you may want to consider a forged bottom end as well as lower compression. 8.1:1 is just too low for that kit. It will not be able to flow enough to make up that much of a difference. 9:1 is as low as I would go with the V9 kit. With 9:1, you should be good for about 530RWHP with a custom tune, 550RWHP if you leave it at 10:1, but watch out for detonation.
T.E.A. has a set of 6.0L 73cc heads that will lower compression to 9.5:1. $1800 for Stage II.
Just a word of advice: If you're going to run more than 8-9lbs, spend your money wisely and do the bottom end first. Unless you have a VERY good source of income, pulling the entire engine apart for a rebuild after you just purchased and installed a blower can cripple you financially.

There is a reason the G-Trim is designed for STOCK motors. The STOCK motors can handle that amount of boost. That happens to be #8. Stock motors can handle up to around #10 but you're pushing it. Risky. Anything over and you need forged internals and such.

The 8# ATI kit will give you about 140hp so you'd be at about 440-450 rear wheel horsepower. Add long tube headers and a catback and your looking at close to 475.
