Default turbo/supercharger

I am building a street and strip car.The car is a Trans-am m6. The motor will bea 408 9.5 to 1 . l92 heads undecided on cam so far. My question is, turbo or supercharger and why. My goal is 600 650 at the wheels.

your liable to get shot for asking this question.....But I vote Procharger. Why? cause I had 2 different twin turbo setups and both of them were a pain in the ***!

I was thinking of a vortech v3 t trim low mount from RMCR, or a ebay kit and a gt88 turbo with all the good stuff. Just not sure. I only want to do it once!

i would go with a intercooled procharger p-1sc which should be between 5-8 psi or the d-1sc wich is like 8psi or more.and on the cam i would recommend a custom grind cam to suite your f/i needs

I prefer a supercharged setup. Procharger specifically for these cars. More so personal preference, both will easily get you where you want to be.

im a fan of a twin turbo set up. They take longer to get setup and runing right but well worth it to me.

Your goal sucks for that size motor with FI. 650 from a blown 408 is like George Clooney setting the goal of ******* a crackwhore. With that size motor, a big single turbo done right the first time will be a good, low maintenance option.

I love the idea of a turbo being more stealthy at idle, if its got a blower, you can tell right away. You can't go wrong with either though, its more of your preference.

Well I know we have a fair amount of people with aps turbo problems on here. That said my car with a 408 ,9.5 to 1, lingenfelter turbo cam and the rest of the stuff in the sig is pretty awesome to me. Boost hits fast and low in the rpm band have to log to see just how low but bet its in by 3000 in third.Traction is not that bad in third not so great in second and forget first unless you are on et drag radials or simlar. My nittos try but they can't really handly the power in the lower gear that well.
Still massive torque and much better area under the curve than any centrifugal which have high peak power numbers and may help traction as the boost comes on by rpm but really I can ramp my boost up by various methods and then traction will be not so bad.And I can vary my power level from maybe 650 to 800 or more with touch of a button. At 3000 rpm I can be putting out full boost and carry it to 7000 redline.

No need to change pulleys.
Supers are fun and been in a couple of ati cars. D1sc and p1sc. But sorry turbos properly sized win hands down for outright kick in the back hand of god feeling.
From 3000 till redline its hold on and watch that road .You don't even have time to watch guages you are mostly concentrating on keeping the car straight as it approaches warp speed. And sound..straight f16 eagle at takeoff sound.
Supers sound ok some find them annoying. Also most have gear rattle at idle that bugs me quite a bit. And then of course there is the sound of the twin blow offs..heaven on earth. ....Ok here is the comparison..supers are like good sex..
TURBOS ARE LIKE GREAT SEX!

That said supers are a bit simpler for initial install but once turbo is installed not much diff at all.
And do want an ati super for my 96z for something different have enough turbo cars right now.

I also think you can build a single turbo for half the price of the ati new. Twin tt kits can get expensive. But twin tt kits still have the mystique. I hit a car show with twin turbos and the direct port and its all over for the centrifical supercharged guys.LOL

Good things come in pairs..
