Just to be clear, this van is NOT mine. It belongs to one of my best friends. I did buy the same van for my family though. The owner lives literally at the end of my street, about 700 ft away. My van is also an awd van, but mine is a conversion van so it seats 7 cause of teh captain chairs. Mine we be very similar, but maybe a stroker engine too....and alittle more turbo. This thing works so well, Im temped to just do the 5.3 the same way, but I have a few engines around , and I cant help but think 416 with l92's and a divided s475 or something like that.

The one pictured is an absolute riot to drive. It has shocks, sway bars, etc so it doesnt drive like any other van. Now it goes too. Well do some video, hopefully with a decent car slowly falling back out the window.

That's not fucked up, it is just funny. They probably should upgrade their van for humor purposes.

I'm not sure a cooler thermostat would make THAT much of a difference... the stock one is probably wide open long before you start to overheat. That and 110 degree temps and a tight engine compartment don't help.

A big or bigger remote oil cooler might bring your temps down... or maybe divert more air through the radiator?

I bet that is a blast to drive though. Think of how you're going to crush people's pride when you're pulling on their fast car with that van!

So Im gonna order up a 160 today, and get a small amount of antifreeze in and water wetter when I swap teh stat.

You might / probably be right, but its the first thing to do. In reality no turbo car should get flogged in 110 degree heat to though. It would only go up, on repeated power pulls, with the ac going. I tuned the ac to shut off at a lower rpm, and today only saw 208, but it was a short drive, but did make two wot runs to the begining of third gear.

It also got more timing everywhere pretty much which made the temps lower and more stable. When I do the thermostat , Ill look at the air movement, and if anything can be improved alittle. The cap may have been faulty too, it wasnt pulling water back in from teh overflow, but insted just holding vacuum in the system. That may already be fixed and have been the real problem, as the more you drive it, it would push alittle water out but not get it back in, causing a low water situation slightly.

Apparently there are two different radiators for the vans too, and I dont know which if either is better.
