Boosted 6speed conversion
ok came across a good deal on a 6 speed and am planning to convert over in the next week from my stalled a4. Anybody out there that has done this on there boosted cars? Problems with anything? I figured a good clutch and plans on beefing up my rear should suffice. What is evey bodies opinions?
I know i will be losing boost on the shifts but what else?

It will lag more than a stalled auto, and my experience is that turbo cars go through clutches frequently.....which gets annoying having your car down as well as expensive. Nothing worse than losing a money race because you missed a gear for 2/10s of second too! Plus you mentioned losing boosts on shifts.....which blows, or wait, technically doesn't blow during the shift lol.

If you really want a manual what about doing an aftermarket 5 speed like the TKO600? I'm not sure what clutches are available for it, but I sure was tired of how much clutches cost for my old 6-speed. Me personally, I would run the A4 until you blow it up, then do a 4L80 or TH400.

Unfortunately i just decided that i want better performance out of my setup and have decided to just stick with my stalled 4l60e.I would just give up too much i think swappping to a 6 speed.I need the load to spool my turb and want to be able to launch at the track hard and consistent.

great call, I swapped to a th400 (still building the car). I decided that a th400 tranny AND stall for 1400 is much cheaper than 1200 per twin disk. Not to mention the spool efficiency with the auto vs the stick. My tranny guy said if it breaks with less than 1k hp, he'll fix it for free
