I dont know the casting on the heads, they are stock 99 TA heads. i upgraded the valvetrain, pushrods, springs, patriot golds. We where running 12psi with a T56 and a midwest 9". When we went up to 15psi and th400 (almost 900hp) i cracked a piston. New ERL block coming soon

Is there a general rule of thumb for a compression/boost ratio on these motors? I am in the middle of building my 347 back up and with the parts I have, I estimate it will be at 9.1-9.3:1 compression at 9-10psi for the time being. Is there any danger to having "too low" compression on boost? I realize I may lose some power but I feel like the motor will be bombproof at that CR and boost.

I'm going with the mpt70 here soon with all stock block for now. Going to keep it at about 8 psi for now as well. Well see how long the motor lasts. Shooting for 500 so I think I'll be safe.

I think I'm a little shy of 700 but very close, I'm still running stock bottom including the timing chain, oil pump, crank, rods, rod bolts, block, pistons,&,rings. I have untouched 317 heads for lower compression,GM MLS head gaskets, & ARP head studs (just because I changed the heads). I know there has been quite a few that pushed this little, much more but I'm still working on a single didget slip with what I have at almost 3800#'s.
